This is my second time in this restaurant we book a table for 4 at 6:00 p.m. with 2 adult and 2 kids I never want to reveal something negative about this restaurant because I love the food. The only bad experience from this restaurant for me was the only one person who make me feel so upset about this place ( manager or owner?) We arrived 40 minute earlier than ours booking time so I decide go to ask them can I come in early? I wasn't expect I'm allowed to come in earlier so when the guy asks me my name and what time my booking for so I tell him my name and the time. But I guess he probably can't hear what I say so he decided to raise his voice and shout at me and even that I tell him what my name is he still don't understand it so I have to point my name on he booking sheet instead and he just point where I have to go so we just service ourself to the table that is the first pass from this person the second part was at the end I still have a full glass of wine when I say full I mean completely full so my husband design to order another whisky drink with the waiter who looking after our table but it seem like he's been busy with other table so we decide to wait without complaining that how long we have to wait for ( it seemed long time for me) so the same guy who been rude to me earlier decide to come in and put the bill down for our table but my husband still haven't received he whisky drink yet it seemed like you rushing us out but the time that he rushing us out is 7:00 p.m. and we have only 1.30 hour spending time in the restaurant with total amount that we spend is £272.40 with no service charge include but we still give £40 tip I don't know what to say. The food is excellent the service not bad except the guy that I mentioned I would give him 0 star for he attitude I also work as a customer service I know what you feel like when is busy I just want to say please don't ever do that again before you rushing people out you should talk to them or ask them not just put the bill down...

Today, I went to the restaurant with my mates and overall, I got a pretty incredible experience.

I ordered a Natto for starter, which was £6.90 I believe?! It taste absolutely amazing, it’s a little bit sticky so some of them may find it a bit disgusting, but I really like that. 10/10

Then we got a a bowl of rice with a bunch of seafood on it. The price wasn’t too pricey and it truly tasted really good as it got some soft-textured tuna and salmon on it! I’m not sure if the black thingy on the rice would be caviar, but it still taste good. The only thing that doesn’t go well on the rice is that, some exceptional pieces of fish are really solid and hard. 7.5/10

We also got 6 pieces of spicy tuna sushi, it’s approx. £12-13 which was a bit pricey, and it doesn’t really taste exceptionally good. TBH, it’s does not taste bad, but it’s overpriced. 6/10

There was a Udon on the menu, it taste normal, nothing special, just a piece of “meaty stuff” and a piece of carrot. Nothing special 5.5/10

We tried the sushi platter, they tasted SERIOUSLY well! With the ginger and wasabi(the little green thingy), they taste automatically better than ever! And the eel sushi was my personal favourite there. 9/10

We got a cold noddles for £13.90, it was a thin ramen noddles with cold, flavoured ice and crispy veggies in it, it was good and really crispy. The noddles were chewy but I got a little bit tired of it after a few bites. Not guaranteeing it. 6/10

Last but not least, we had a kimchi stew?! I think it is, it’s the best of all the dish and it tastes so warm, spicy with the rice!! There were kimchi, pork and some other things in it and it’s the best thing to have in winter!!! Taste...

I had a great experience at OShio Japanese and Korean restaurant in Brighton. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious.

We started with the fried octopus, which was perfectly cooked and had a nice crispy exterior. For our mains, I got the sashimi with rice in a hot stone bowl with miso soup, and my partner got the bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. Both dishes were fresh and flavorful, and the hot stone bowls kept the food warm and cooked through perfectly.

We also tried two sake flights, which were a great way to sample a variety of sakes. The sakes were all very smooth and easy to drink, and they paired well with our food. The server kindly explained the flavour of each sake.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at OShio Japanese and Korean restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back to try more!

The restaurant is located in a great spot in Brighton, just off North Laine, on Trafalgar Street. The interior of the restaurant is stylish and modern, with a Japanese and Korean influence. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they were happy to make recommendations. The menu is extensive, with a variety of Japanese and Korean dishes to choose from. There is a good selection of sake and other alcoholic beverages on the menu. The prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of food and service.

I would highly recommend OShio Japanese and Korean restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Japanese or Korean meal...

We have been loyal customers of this restaurant for many years and have celebrated countless special occasions here, always enjoying both the food and the warm, accommodating service. One of the reasons we’ve returned time and again is because the staff have always taken my shellfish allergy seriously, ensuring I could dine safely and comfortably alongside the rest of my party. Unfortunately, during our most recent visit, I was told that the kitchen would not cater for my allergy and that my only option would be a salad. This was both surprising and disheartening, given the restaurant’s history of being so attentive and the fact that they advertise catering to vegetarians and vegans — which are dietary *choices* rather than medical necessities. An allergy is not optional, and the sudden change in approach made me feel excluded and unwelcome. I have taken it upon myself to order a dedicated allergen chopping board to be delivered to them. In hopes they’ll reconsider their current stance on allergens and return to the thoughtful, inclusive dining experience that made them stand out in the past. Until then, it saddens me to say that we can no longer enjoy the restaurant in the way we once did.
