Bistro Olivo Restaurant — Restaurant in London

This was one of the most disappointing dining experience we have ever experienced. We might have experienced an outlier situation but we felt that it was still important to leave a review so that the management may do something about this.

TLDR: We sat there for 2 hours and were not fed.

We arrived (party of 4) around 19:50 on a Tuesday evening and were welcomed and seated (restaurant was about half full). We had our orders taken promptly: 2 starters (a dip and grilled octopus) and 4 mains (2 meat dishes, a vegetarian platter, a vegetarian moussaka). We only asked for water as drinks.

We did not receive anything for the next 40 mins (not even water), after which the waiter circled back to ask us if we needed anything. We asked for water and if we could add a side of chips to our order. We were assured that this was no issue. After another 25 mins of nothing, the waiter circled back and seemed surprised that we had not yet received any food or drinks. He apologized and offered us drinks on the house, which he brought promptly.

Around 21:10 (more than 1 hour after our order had been placed) the first signs of food started appearing. First in the form of a greek salad, some bread and the dip, then some grilled halloumi. We were a bit confused as we had not ordered the greek salad nor the halloumi, but we were also hungry so we did not refuse it. Before digging into the halloumi, we asked our waiter whether we had received the correct order; he went to double check and came back assuring us that this was our food and enumerating what was on our order. Everything seems correct so we figured that the salad and halloumi were components of the vegetarian platter, arriving at different times.

After finishing the food we had received, our plates were cleared and we took the opportunity to ask when we might expect the mains. Its was around 21:30. The waiter seemed exasperated and said that he was trying. We didn’t doubt him. He brought us the vegetarian moussaka 10 mins later.

After receiving the vegetarian moussaka, we made a group decision to pay for the food we had gotten and to leave. It was 21:45, a time at which we were not expecting to still be having dinner.

I went up to the kitchen to ask for the bill. I was surprised to see an extra greek salad and grilled halloumi on the bill. I pointed out that we had not ordered these dishes and asked how come they were on the bill. The waiter seemed confused and removed the greek salad from the bill but asked me to pay for the halloumi, which I did.

As we were finishing the moussaka, the waiter came to apologize to us for this terrible dining experience. He assured us that they typically have a functional dining service and that this is an outlier. We believed him, but we still had not received water by this point.

We give Meze NW6 one star.

As we live in the neighbourhood, we plan on giving this restaurant another chance, but with so many other excellent food options nearby, we think we will stick with more reliable...

We waited for almost an hour for starters to come out slowly for another 20 minutes. We then waited another hour form mains. A table of 11 and 5 wanted the Kleftico to which we were talked there was one. Baring in mind we were the only table bar a table of 2 that came 30 minutes after. The waitress mentioned nothing, no apologies or acknowledgement for a ridiculously bad service. The bread they gave at the start was with nothing but processed flavourless olive oil. Not extra virign which is a joke. They gave a table of 11 8olives. My main was the seabass. No flavour at all. My Father in law had the prawns, no flavour at all. Only took of £70 on a £320 bill when minimum it should've been is half as most people didn't eat their food. The meatballs smelt like...

Absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home.

The food was incredible! We ordered the soutzoukakia, which were perfectly spiced and tender, and the mixed grill, which was cooked to perfection with a great variety of flavors. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, just like a home-cooked Greek meal. It made us feel like we were back home.

The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with family. If you’re looking for delicious Greek food with top-notch service, this is the place to go! Highly recommend and will definitely be returning. I really recommend trying baklava...
