Butchies Canary Wharf — Restaurant in London

I tried Butchies in Canary Wharf on 1 July 2024 around 8.45pm. This is probably the most honest review you’ll get. Firstly, the food is very nice, and the chicken tenders and wings were probably one of the best I’ve tried. Honestly, they are much better than KFC or Popeyes. However, why I am not giving five stars is because for the prices you have to pay, the portions are incredibly small. For £21.50 (I ordered the cheesy rider burger meal and three wings) £21.50 for all that! The portions were incredibly small and they think just because it’s Canary Wharf they can rip their customers off! For £21.50 you could have entire meal and sides at Nando’s! For £21.50 you could get a Chinese for a whole family. I was given a tiny portion of chips, I paid £2 for a tiny pot of gravy, and the burger was very small. For the prices they are really lucky the food does taste good, otherwise, this place would be an entire flop! The food didn’t fill me up at all and I had to order more. If you’re going to charge an extortionate amount for let’s face it fried chicken, then at least give your customers a bigger portion. They only add the word buttermilk to make it sound special. For the amount of money you will have to dish out, there are so many better options. Overall, whilst the food is good, due to the extortionate prices and tiny portions, I wouldn’t recommend this...

So I went on July the 1st. The food honestly was good, the wings were similar to kfc wings with its crunch. The burger was nice and so were the fries. But need to increase the portion size. I paid £21.50 for a burger, fried, 6 wings and a drink. With that portion size, it honestly should’ve be more than £15-£18. But what really disappointed me the most was the customer service. There were two black girls operating the place and the person on the till was so rude. The place is busy so it was hard to hear her. I asked her to repeat something and she starts waving her finger around and was annoyed that she had to repeat her self. They also couldn’t be bothered to give me any sauce like ketchup or mayonnaise and we had to go and ask for it after and she was annoyed that we went and asked her that as she seemed ‘busy’, she could’ve just said ‘there are tissues here and would you guys like anything sauces?’. But that seemed too much for her to ask. Nevertheless, we ordered the strips and she did give us a 1 piece of free chicken strip so that was nice of her. So give her credit on that. I do not recommend this branch. Butchies is usually very high quality, but the same cannot be said of the Canary Wharf establishment. I am consistently let down by the quality of service and food, and today was the last straw.

I ordered wings, the staff member misheard me as ordering chicken popcorn, which I then corrected them on before placing the order on the system and paying. Despite this effort, I received a measly portion of chicken popcorn. Worse yet, they messed up the ratio of the flour seasoning, leading to an odd and imbalanced spice taste. Do I have to unwrap, check, and rewrap my takeaway order every time? Do I have to put up with the taste constantly changing depending on how much of each ingredient the employees fling in the seasoning flour?
