Went here for a close friend's birthday celebration on a Monday and had a really good time. We were looking for an Indian restaurant that had good decor and was also reasonably priced. Mumbai Square did not disappoint and would come back again. The food was tasty and the staff was helpful. It was a Monday and the place was very quiet in terms of customers. Not complaining though as some People pay to have places shut just for them. When we got in we ordered some drinks and were provided with poppadoms and a few sauces to go with that. We ordered some rum but unfortunately they didn't have any so we had whisky instead. My friend asked if they had mocktails 🍸 and even though it was not on the menu the boss kindly made one for her. We ordered a few different dishes and I particularly enjoyed the okra dish (Bindi Bhaji), the mushrrom bhaji and the chicken jalfrezi. We had some channa aloo which was also nice enough. My friend ordered the Monkfish which at first came out a bit rubbery but that was quickly exchanged when we brought it to their attention. The second time it came out really well. My only negatives were that the garlic bread although tasty came out a bit cold which we didn't mention only cos we had already had the issue with the fish. The cheesecake also was frozen but I find that desserts can be a bit hit and miss in other Indian restaurants unless its a traditional one. Overall we had a great night and really liked the owner who explained that things had been a bit tough since the pandemic.. I really hope things turn for the better now things are back open. He was a very kind guy who deserves a packed out restaurant.

I had dinner here on 5th September 2025 and was extremely disappointed not only with the billing errors but also with the manager’s shocking lack of customer service. When I reviewed my bill the next day, I found I was incorrectly charged for: £4.95 for a bottle of still water I never ordered (I had clearly opted for tap water). 4 bottles of Cobra beer, when I only ordered and consumed 2. These are not minor mistakes—they show serious issues with the restaurant’s billing practices. I attempted to resolve this fairly and politely: I first tried contacting them via their official email, only to find it wasn’t even working. I then called the restaurant directly, explained the situation, and asked for a refund of the incorrect charges. The so-called manager I spoke with refused to help unless I travelled back to London in person with the bill—which is unreasonable, as I don’t live locally. I even offered two practical solutions: Share the bill copy via a working email address, or Share it via a WhatsApp number. Both were flatly refused. Instead of cooperating, the manager insisted I physically visit, offered no solution, and then hung up the phone on me. This experience shows two serious problems: Faulty billing system – adding items customers never ordered. Unprofessional management – rude, unhelpful, and unwilling to resolve simple issues. My advice to anyone considering dining here: check your bill carefully before paying. A restaurant that can’t get its billing right and whose manager treats customers so poorly doesn’t deserve your business.

A bitter experience, but liked biryani. The waiter who took our order dint seem to pleasant at all, he was like "i dont know if this is your first time here but our quantity is too less and will not be sufficient for one person also" and he said i will give you some more time to order more and left. Once he is back we said we just need one platter and that will be sufficient. He was not happy with that. His expression made us feel like why are we even here!! How ever after ages of wait our food arrived and the starter was not at all good, though he said the starter is not sufficient for 2 people, we both couldnt even finish half of the starter. We really liked chicken biryani, so ordered one more chicken biryani and enjoyed it. Finally after paying the bill, we came across another person who looks like the owner of the restaurant, he spoke so good like a gentleman and even escorted us back to the door. The ambience made us feel like we travelled back in time, it looked like a restaurant from the 90s India. The 3 stars are only for the good biryani and the person we met in the last. As we already had

I went to this restaurant last night with my girlfriend for dinner as it was the closet Indian restaurant to an event we were attending. The reviews on Google were generally quite good so I had expected that it would be alright.

There were three waiters on the floor and one behind the bar. For some reason, only one of the staff on the floor was allowed (or trained) to take orders. This meant that after we ordered our starters we had to wait over 20 minutes before we could order our mains. In that time the restaurant had filled up a little (it was empty when we arrived) and the one waiter that seemed to have experience as a waiter was running to all of the tables and seemed to totally forget about us. We had to twice signal to the other waiters on duty that we were ready to order. He suggested that he was aware but it was the other waiter that was taking orders. For some reason, he didn't think to tell the other waiter that we were ready to order or the barman didn't come to take our order despite just standing behind the bar with nothing to do.

When the waiter did finally come to take our order he had a very bad attitude and impatiently hurried us through ordering despite the fact that we needed to understand some very serious medically mandated dietary requirements. Not safe and not professional.

At one point my girlfriend needed water as some food became lodged in her throat. Having provided one glass of water each (why no jugs?) I attempted to flag down any one of the waiter that seemed to intentionally dart around around my waving. Eventually, I got the barman's attention who brought us one glass of water despite the fact that there was two of us. I then had to ask that if he could bring a second glass, which he did.

When it came time to pay, again it took forever to flag down a waiter and get the bill. When the bill did arrive there was an error. The staff attempted to overcharge us by adding something as an extra which should have been included as part of one of the starters. They also charged separately for both poppadoms and chutney which isn't standard practice for an Indian restaurant and is a little greedy (in my humble opinion).

No fewer than three waiters came to our table with the card reader when we were ready to pay. A one point a waiter dropped the card reader and it smashed all over the floor.

Overall, the restaurant is VERY badly run. I would imagine the one waiter with the British accent seems to think that he knows more about running a restaurant than he actually does. I have worked in and run restaurants, they are totally incompetent. Train your staff better or Google how to run a restaurant. We won't be back, obviously.

The food was quite good, no complaints. Props to the...

As we approached the entrance to the restaurant, we were greeted by a young man who worked for the restaurant. He was smoking at the entrance and only extinguished his cigarette once we told him we had a reservation. He threw the cigarette on the floor and used his foot to put it out and asked us to follow him to be seated. Not a good first impression! At this stage I would recommend the restaurant to encourage their staff to smoke around the back or away from an area where you greet your customers. I booked this restaurant based on the reviews, so wanted to see for myself how well the service was and the food was too. The table we were given had cutlery left on two of the seat cushions. The staff member who was looking after us, was the same one who was smoking at the entrance. He said the restaurant was busy last night and still needed to be cleaned. I assume this would happen after the restaurant closes for the day or at least before it opens the next morning. For the starters which were papadums, it seemed the first few were moist and the rest were crispy. I assumed the unlucky top ones were from the previous day. The papadums do also come with a price tag of £22 and another £4 for the sauces. The Cobra beer was very flat and the coke bottles, although sealed, did not seem to have as much gas once opened. When the dinner plates came out, two of them had some stains on them which we requested to have changed. The same waiter seemed upset with our request and was hoping we would have just excepted them. From looking at the restaurant, I feel it is very tired and seems very different from the pictures online, A good dust of the place would really help and some fresh paint. I will not comment on the toilets, please do see these for yourself as they took need some looking after. This is a restaurant based in the City and I would have expected this to have such...
