Extremely Rude and Unsympathetic Staff!
I had a deeply upsetting experience at this restaurant. Immediately after leaving, I broke down crying, partly because of what had happened and partly because of how I was treated. If you plan to visit, be aware: this is a place where staff can make you feel so humiliated and stressed that you end up crying outside.
Here’s what happened: It was my first day in London, right after I landed. I discovered this restaurant by chance after getting off at Paddington Station and thought it might be a nice spot. I ordered a plain papadum and was pleasantly surprised when they also brought chutney. I didn’t complain and even chatted with the staff about it being my first day in London. I then ordered a few more dishes.
After finishing my meal, I realized my wallet had been stolen —a terrifying situation in a foreign country. In my shock and confusion, I offered to pay via QR code, which is a common method in Turkey. I couldn’t use Apple Pay because it doesn’t work with Turkish bank cards in the UK. I asked if they accepted this method, but the staff became angry and rude, saying they didn’t. I explained again that my wallet had been stolen and that I had nothing with me.
I want to emphasize: I was not asking for a free meal. I understand that some people might try to avoid paying, and I completely respect the need for caution. But in such a stressful moment, I expected at least a little kindness. Instead, the staff told me harshly to “fix your problem” and walked away.
My friend then transferred the payment (fixed the problem) to them while I reported the theft to the police. They witnessed everything but did not offer a single kind word afterward. They treated me as if I were a thief.
Ironically, when I first arrived, they greeted me warmly—even “Islamically”—and spoke fondly of their vacation in Turkey. Later, I noticed they had charged £5–7 for extra masala sauce they had offered (there were no printed bills, just a number written in pencil). I ended up paying a large amount of money, and based on what I learned from the commentes here, it seems that raising the bill is a common practice for them.
This experience was extremely distressing, and I hope other visitors are aware of the risk of being...
Read moreWe looked out and thought we will have a meal at Noor Jahan, Sussex place, London. I step with my two year old and it amazes me how these folks treated me. They did four mind boggling things to make me think how stupid they are and clearly tell me that Indians are not invited at this place. This place prefers foreigners over Indians and they are blatantly untruthful and rude about this
They said you can take the table once the gent finishes, after waiting for 15 minutes as the gent finished, the manager -Arun comes running outside and says 'sorry we have waiting for 45 minutes'. They ask me to wait for 15 minutes outside some other restaurant across the road. Stupid as it may sound, but true. They ask me to take a table in a dingy basement, when the table was empty and there to be taken outside They ask me to go to some other restaurant across the road not once but thrice.
Absolute surprise behaviour amongst the amazing people that stay in London. This restaurant smells of favouritism for non Indians. Do not go and get yourself insulted if you are an Indian family wanting to have a meal in London, there are much better...
Read moreHello people. As thought about London a beautiful city to visit in UK; had a bad experience with restaurant Noor Jahan Paddington. Me and my friend visited this place today for dinner we called for some drinks papaddum lentil soup 3rotis sabji and rice. After 10mins the manager comes down to say sorry Madame you have to call for more meal as you don’t come in our list of satisfied pound for two people that is 45-50 pounds. By that time waiter got drink and a soup. We had a word with manager asking him “sir we are two and we have called for enough”! He said sorry it’s our rule. He took our lentil soup bowl, a drink and water. He abused us and told us to leave. Been an Indian he insulted us in front of all. It’s like a shock. So another people all around the world don’t respect Indians. Because when your own people don’t respect you nothing else matters. Sad but true.
Please spread a word about this restaurant so it reaches to all the people worldwide. Restaurant Noor Jahan Paddington. Don’t make it famous by just sharing it...
