We loved the food and 2 stars for that. This was probably one of the best Indian food we had in a long time. However, I will take 3 stars away for the rude behaviour and extremely poor service provided at the dining room. Indian food is always an experience, its not the food alone and our service managed to completely ruin it for all of us. Our plan was to try most of the menu with friends. We had one of the best butter chicken outside India, so much balanced flavours. Even the humble gobi tasted divine!! Our service did not take any order for drinks and starters together, & wasted 30 mins in the process. In the end she rushed us for last orders when we had not finished our main course. We knew this was coming. General comments, we are very busy. It will take 15 mins to get a simple wine tasting, or dessert spoon etc. We were sat waiting for everyones drink to come or a spoon. Someone spilled a cocktail, napkins where thrown at us to wipe it off. Do not want to sound entitled here but we wiped the tables and then took the plates to replace it! Our service did not step in to offer help or request if we needed any thing else. When we enquired about some ingredients in the food, we were told I dont know whats in it as I have not tasted the food, and stood there. We had to send her back to ask the chef or at the bar and find out as we had restrictions. We had to literally manage our service. The list is long, will stop whining about it.. we had good food and I wish it was just a takeaway and not sold to us as a dining experience. Its sad, despite such an amazing spread and taste(hats off to the chef). We wont be coming back to hang out at the dining room again or celebrate anything here. This is going to be just a deliveroo or takeout for me, or a place where I go and eat alone with no expectations. Sorry, your service is ruining it for you!

Had a fantastic meal at Roti Chai, which really captures the feeling of proper Indian street-style food while still keeping the setting modern and comfortable. The restaurant itself is quite large, with seating both upstairs and downstairs, so it never feels cramped even when it’s busy. The vibe is lively but welcoming, and it’s a great place to come with friends or family if you want to enjoy a relaxed meal. The food absolutely delivered. The GT Road Chicken instantly took me back to the kind of flavors you’d expect at roadside dhabas — bold, smoky, and packed with spice, just the way I remembered from trips along the highway in Ludhiana and before Vidyasagar Setu near Kolkata. The Railway Lamb was another standout, rich and full of flavor, and it brought back memories of the meals served in 3rd AC train compartments — hearty, comforting, and deeply satisfying. The tandoori roti was fresh, warm, and paired perfectly with the curries. I also really appreciated the attention to presentation. It had the charm of street food but plated thoughtfully, which made the experience even better. The tea was excellent as well, brewed strong and authentic, rounding off the meal perfectly. Overall, Roti Chai is a wonderful spot for anyone craving authentic Indian flavors with a touch of nostalgia. It’s rare to find a place in London that gets both the taste and the feel so right.

The style, interior decor, cleanliness and atmosphere here is really good. There’s two options available - the smaller, street food style/sharing plates menu on the ground level (which is what we tried) and the regular restaurant dining room below ground level. There was a bit of a wait for the food but I personally don’t mind, as I’d rather they take their time and maintain good quality. We sampled a variety of dishes (lamb curry, paneer salad, naan, biriyani, chickpea curry, raita) - overall food taste and quality was average. I think the price is a bit too much for the quantity and quality. Although I appreciate them openly mentioning on the menu that GMO ingredients are used, I’m really surprised and shocked at how abundant GMOs are being used across restaurants in the UK. I probably won’t be returning due to this fact alone, so if they can remove GMOs altogether, that would definitely appeal to more health conscious customers. The service was generally good, but would prefer to have the services charges/tips be truly optional versus buried on the bill (it’s not North America, after all). Overall, not bad, but not spectacular either.

I recently dined at Roti Chai, and while the food was vibrant and full of flavor — exactly what you’d hope for from a modern Indian street kitchen — it was the exceptional service by our waitress, Sami❤️❤️, that truly made the evening stand out.

From the moment we were seated, Sami was attentive, friendly, and genuinely warm. She guided us through the menu with confidence, suggesting a perfect mix of small plates and mains, and even tailored her recommendations based on our spice preferences. Her knowledge of the dishes and enthusiasm for the food made a huge difference — it felt like we had our own personal guide to Indian street food.

What really struck me was her ability to balance professionalism with a relaxed, personable approach. She checked in just the right amount — never intrusive, but always there when we needed something. Small details, like remembering who ordered what and making sure allergies were double-checked, showed how much she cared about the experience.

The restaurant itself has a buzzy, modern vibe with a street food energy, but Sami❤️❤️brought a warmth to the atmosphere that elevated everything. It’s rare to find staff who are both efficient and genuinely kind — she was both, effortlessly.

Highly recommend Roti Chai for the food — but if you're lucky enough to be served by Sami, your evening will be...
