I used to come here as a special treat and it was one of my favourite restaurants, but this time everything changed and there was no value for money. Firstly, I don’t mind the menu change but if you’re going to write “we wanna be better hosts than most” on the cover and proceed to have bad service, for example giving customers half warm half cold towels using a pair of disposable wooden chopsticks, serving food as if you’re dumping it for pigs to eat and introducing the dishes with no eye contact and speaking quickly as if you want to leave as soon as possible, you might as well remove that text from the cover of the menu. Some staff were trying a little more than others but in general there was a very glum mood among them and we hadn’t seen any of them smile, just rushing around the restaurant carrying boxes and trays of dirty dishes. We ordered “As good as it gets” for two people. The tuna tartare was delicious and worked well with the cracker, and provided a much needed sweet break from the other two fish dishes (shake tataki and hiramasa kataifi I believe) which were drowning in salty and sour ponzu. The ebi bites were as good as before, and I enjoyed the texture of the hotate kataifi croquettes. The grilled edamame with soy sauce was an interesting change but the pieces at the bottom of the bowl begin to be too much with the rest of the intense, savoury dishes rather than providing a refreshing feeling which the lemon and salt edamame from before would have, and some are so charred that they taste bitter. The temaki setto’s ingredients are all delicious and high quality, each ingredient bringing a different experience but the seaweed would overpower everything and all I could get was the faint texture of the lobster and wagyu - which should’ve been the star of the dish, rather than the seaweed. It really isn’t the best use of such high quality ingredients. And finally to end it all, the sushi roll looked as if it came from itsu and was worth 3 quid. The salmon seemed dry and plasticky and the shape of the roll was… not something I’d expect for a meal that’s 58 pounds per person. The cod and scallop skewers looked pretty and I had high hopes but instead they were burnt, overcooked and soooo over salted. I felt bad for both sea creatures which died for the dish. The black parts were bitter rather than crispy, and neither was buttery and soft but rather dry and flaky. You would have to pay me to take another bite of it. Of all the dishes to end the meal with, the skewers and sushi were not it. I was so relieved I ordered one of the meals with the least sushi rolls. Unless the chef stops using up all the salt in the sea and overcooking the high quality ingredients, I don’t think I’ll be...
Read moreI wanted to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible dining experience I recently had at your restaurant last week when I had lunch with my team. My visit was truly delightful, and I'd like to share my feedback, highlighting the exceptional aspects of my experience.
Firstly, I was pleasantly surprised by the abundant selection of vegetarian options available on your menu. As a vegetarian, I often struggle to find diverse and tantalizing options at sushi restaurants. However, Stick n Sushi exceeded my expectations. The assortment of vegetarian dishes, including Kyoto Non-Stop, Imo Yaki, and Shishito Yaki, were not only creatively prepared but also bursting with delightful flavours. It was evident that great care and attention were put into crafting these dishes.
Additionally, the portion sizes were perfectly balanced, allowing me to savor multiple dishes without feeling overwhelmed. The thoughtful presentation and appropriate portioning further enhanced the dining experience.
Moreover, I greatly appreciated your team's hospitality and flexibility in accommodating guests who are not accustomed to eating with chopsticks. Offering forks and knives without hesitation was a small yet considerate gesture that made the dining experience even more inclusive and enjoyable.
In summary, my visit to Stick n Sushi was a culinary delight. The variety of vegetarian options, including the recommended dishes, truly impressed me. The flavours were exquisite, the portions were just right, and the service was exceptional.
I am already looking forward to returning and will enthusiastically recommend Stick n Sushi to friends and family seeking a remarkable dining experience.
Thank you for providing such a fantastic...
Read moreAs long-term ”frequent fishers” of Sticks n Sushi in London, we were not impressed by our visit in the Canary Wharf restaurant. Whilst the food itself was great as usual, the service left a lot to be desired.
We arrived after 2pm on Monday and wanted to treat ourselves on our day off to a nice meal - the restaurant was certainly not busy, at around 25% capacity. Our waiter was new, however there were several mistakes made, which were not rectified by their other colleagues either.
We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine but received 2 glasses, this was rectified after our comment - later on the waiter topped only my glass once, otherwise we had to help ourselves. No-one topped up our water glasses either.
After finishing our starters we had to ask when the rest of the food was coming, as we’d been waiting for 10-15mins already. The waiter said they were waiting for us to finish but had walked past us more than once without taking any note of our empty plates.
They then came back and insisted we had only ordered starters to begin with, even though I had pointed to the items on the menu earlier and they had written them down - they then had to go and order the other items again from scratch, causing more waiting time.
A lot of the staff members would congregate at the bar for a chat or to have some coffee/tea; I would perhaps expect this at a cheap chain restaurant but not when you’re spending £150 for a nice meal for two
For the first time at S&S we opted not to pay the service charge. And given the amazing experiences at our previously local Greenwich restaurant as well as other branches, we won’t be returning to...
