I've visited Fig & Thyme several times, and it's always been one of my top brunch spots in Plymouth. Very consistent food and drink quality and beautiful presentation. However, there are instances when it may take up to 45min to get your food when it's busy!
I highly recommend you go right when it opens, as it gets packed very early in the morning.
Things I've tried across multiple visits: Salmon & Avocado Croffle (8/10): I ordered a poached egg on the side which was wonderful dipping some of the croffle in the yolk! There is a generous slathering of avocado, and pickled onions to give it that bite.
Bacon & Brie Croffle with honey (8/10): that thyme infused honey is so darn good on the bacon, it adds a nice subdued flavour to the croffle sammich.
Crab on toast (9/10): a surprise favorite. They use bread from Jacka's bakery and slather with a spread before topping it off with crab. Very lovely, lightly citrus crab.
Apple and Cinnamon Biscoff waffles (8/10): fantastic waffles with a very moreish Biscoff sauce. I wish the waffles were a bit more toasted though!
Fig & Thyme Sharing board (8/10): a feast for the eyes, and highly recommended if you and a mate/date/partner are feeling peckish for a full English. Gloriously large portion of eggs, bacon, sausage, cherry tomatoes, and toast.
Mexican Sharing Board (6/10): coming from California, I'm not a fan of the cardboard-y texture of the tortillas that are used in the quesadillas. I also do not like jarred salsa which have a sweet undertone. Would recommend they add onions, cilantro, lemon to their guacamole for a flavor boost Visually stunning, but definitely not a favorite menu...
Read moreAbsolutely outstanding brunch experience. Fig & Thyme have succeeded in delivering the most delicious menu, in a relaxed and friendly setting. Expect to queue briefly at this popular brunch spot on Plymouths Historic Barbican Quarter. But rest assured it is absolutely worth the short wait, and you will be kept up to date by the really friendly and efficient waitresses, in our case, it was Frankie.
The venue is dog friendly, but it’s not huge, anything bigger than a Labrador might be a squeeze- or sit outside?
The food. A carefully considered menu, with beautiful attention to detail. The combination and balance of flavours is an absolute delight.
We enjoyed the Breakfast Croffle A pair of croffles topped with perfectly cooked bacon, sausages, a sprinkle of cheese, a smear of sweet chilli jam, and a perfectly poached egg- I appreciated its jammy centre, which didn’t run all over the beautiful wooden board. The addition of pea shoots, rocket and I think, allium flowers, gave delicious flavour and texture.
We had both tea and flat whites The Devonshire Tea had a beautiful flavour with a hint of honey. The flat whites were perfect, just what we needed to fuel us for our long journey back home to North Wales
It’s such a pleasure to visit another female founded business that is so committed to delivering excellence and making a difference
I will absolutely visit Fig &Thyme Kitchen again when I’m back in Devon, and I recommend you...
Read moreBeautifully presented delicious food with customisation options available. Any customisation is surcharged and the drinks are sickly sweet. However the atmosphere and service is wonderful. Unfortunately it’s very slow with a gentleman going out for vapes/texting every 10 minutes and owners stood there watching people not helping. We’ve been here quite a few times and it’s the same each time. The cooking is wonderful and the wonderful coffee/cocktail maker who is incredibly patient and if you don’t want it too sweet I’m positive she would adjust the recipe. I will say the patrons at this beautiful restaurant tend to be quite rude to staff, regardless of service so please just be nice. I always tip 50% of my total purchase as a meal for two plus 4 drinks usually amounts to less than £45. And I’ve heard a manager shout at staff a few times. There is also a camera in the bathroom. Not sure if it’s something else but it certainly looks like it. Made me massively uncomfortable, please don’t take my word for it but just see for yourself in the top right corner as you face the door it has red blinking lights. Im sure there must be a reasonable...
