This place has seriously gone down hill and after today’s visit - I’d say it’s hit rock bottom.
Where do we start? Food! Ordered 3 full breakfasts, avocado on toast and coffees/cold drinks. Flat white coffees like warm. Ok. One off maybe.
35 minute wait for one breakfast to arrive (avocado toast) then 5 minutes later one more full breakfast arrives. Absolutely stone cold beans, stone cold egg, stone cold toast with no butter. Only thing that was hot was the hash brown. Hungry & Disappointed, we informed the waiter who took it away to sort another. (Other two full breakfasts still not arrived after 40 mins)
5 mins later waiter returns with replacement breakfast. STONE COLD AGAIN!! Wow! Beans were literally like they’d been served straight from the tin!!
Not happy and very hungry, informed waiter again who went to speak with ‘supervisor’. Returns to table and says ‘which bits are you saying are cold? As we can only refund you for the cold bits!’ 😂😂🤬🤬
I then went to speak with the supervisor herself who continued to deni the fact the breakfast was once again cold as it had just been replaced. I demanded a full refund of my breakfast and drink of which she reluctantly agreed to after a firm exchange of words.
Returning to our table, our two friends, now been waiting approx 50 mins, still no breakfast had arrived!! A few minutes later there’s did arrive and guess what…….STONE COLD!!!! This is not acceptable. Appalling breakfast and terrible service. My friends did not bother to complain as they were so hungry they just ate some of it and left the rest.
Having paid almost £60 for the 4 of us and to only receive a £11 refund was disgraceful. Had we not paid upfront I would have refused to pay at all.
Avoid this place guys. Must be new management or Stevie Wonder is cooking the food.
BAD BAD BAD.
No apology from staff or supervisor, no attempt to make things right and encourage us to return, no smiles, appalling service from start to finish.
Always write a positive review for a business or restaurant to help them along and get the recognition they deserve. After the experience here today - I couldn’t possibly let this go without writing this...
Read moreAverage service, dull atmosphere, not really a shop as such ; more like a cyclist like 'cafe' with a huge counter offering cakes, coffee etc - offers a small repair service, that's , expensive / over - subscribed , and sells mostly expensive bike brands like Bianci and Kona. A POOR and Staggering lack of bike parts and associated accessories to keep you - CYCLING ! , plenty of expensive fashion items to buy though . Very nice decor / food / drinks, but , again, expensive. Mostly caters for affluent / professional travellers during summer months ,and the swarms of ' boaty ' cyclists whose boats litter Plymouth sea - front and the barbican ; this is the overall ' feel ' i had of the premises and business having been there 15 or 20 times over 3 or 4 years.. Little interest shown by average local cyclists in this business due to price point of products and services offered. Offers cycle clubs and day - rides , but again, the clubs only really appeals to road - riding professionals who cycle. The shop has little visibility in the wider community of Plymouth. Had a slight air of snobbery about it in my experience Little presence of management and service around bike issues, no - one ever on the shop floor and the mechanics look to busy to engage with anything else other than repairs in workshop which is fair play. Won't be coming here if i'm stuck on my bike travelling though. However, on a sunny day, it's ok for a nice hot chocolate, which you'll probably end up buying as it does not stock the bike parts you require that made you stop by in the first place. They'll direct you to Halfords for that, like they did me. Thanks for your time,...
Read moreIs it a bike shop of a coffee shop? Well It's a quirkly but surprisingly natural combination of both. You can park your bicycle inside while you have your coffee. Decor is nice and has a warm feeling, walls are lined with bicycle memorabilia and amazing cycling themed art prints. The back half of R&R is actually a bicycle shop!
As a non cycler I came to have a nice coffee and was not disappointed. I had a lovely mocha and later as I decided this was a perfect spot for a bit of reading, (i brought my own book but tables have books and a bookshelf is available with cycling and non cycling themed books) I also had a flat white and a slice of very nice carrot cake.
They have a extensive breakfast menu and the lunch menu includes sandwiches, toasties pies etc I can't comment on these but will have to return to try the food. Cookies, cakes and other snacks also a available.
Really like the atmosphere. Coffee and Cake were good I highly recommended Rockets...
