Sorry, I couldn't find less than this 1 star, else would have picked up for their food and their response. Reason for this review is not only the poor quality of some of the food but the staff's rude attitude when called to provide my feedback. Have ordered over phone for take away, 1 Butter chicken, 2 Boiled rice, Naan, Roti, Mix veg. Curry and Sweet Lassi Butter Chicken - chicken and gravy tastes with sweet texture (that's fine), but with Peppers? and almost 100gm of Butter on top (snaps attached). Never experienced such a butter chicken in my life and the price is high too £15.95. Veg curry flavored with full of garlic and too much salt. Never had veg curry with garlic at all. Lassi - tasted like buttermilk + milk, but nothing more. Not a proper Lassi made with Yougurt. They charged £5:70 for large ? (Snaps attached). I said them to prepare with less oil but all the dishes were floating in full of oil. Rice, Naan, Roti, pappdam, chutney and they extra gravey they gave without ordering are totally fine. But the main courses weren't tasting good. Called them to express my concern and before I explain in full the staff was so rude and that he stopped me and explained that he had explained me while ordering that their dish will taste different but not interested to listen me full, although I was polite explaining him. He said to me, 'Mr. V, next time when you visit here do not come to our restaurant' and cut the call. His very rude behaviour made me to raise this review so that no one further gets such experience from them. This is not authentic Indian and sorry guys your response to customer in such a way is not what anyone would expect.

Great service by Russel and his female colleague. Food is really lovely. My dhansak B had great depth of flavour, full of whole spices and citrus. A delicious Muttar Paneer made special aswell. Whilst it is not your traditional ENGLISH Indian style, it certainly is home cooked, fresh, made to order with love and care. Have an open mind. You will not be disappointed. I had chicken tikka dhansak, muttar paneer, special rice, and a garlic naan with one small coke. This cost Ā£39 which is very very expensive and was the only let down. I actually think it was a bill mistake that I didn’t realise until I left. I will return and I recommend giving it a go. Speaking with the chef and him explaining the menu and how it’s cooked fresh with love and attention made my visit extra special.

An otherwise good meal on Saturday was overshaded by a nasty surprise when the bill arrived – Eastern Eye’s prices do not include VAT. Their flier makes no mention of this, so it was a bit of a shock to see my bill jump from Ā£133 to Ā£176 by the time the 20% VAT and my 10% service charge was added. I’m not even sure this is allowed: the Advertising Standards Agency say ā€œIf customers are consumers, all prices quoted in ads should include VAT in the stated priceā€. Eastern Eye already markets fairly expensive curries for Plymouth. Our Ā£176 meal for four people was the following: 4 papadums, no starters, 1 biryani, 3 curries, 2 sides, 2 rice, 1 naan, 3 large beer and one glass of red. The food quality is good but that’s a bit irrelevant – I just feel ripped off.

Now this is difficult because...

Positives We just walked in without reserving a table and were quickly seated without any hassle. The food was brought out quickly and was hot (temperature hot)bandbwas really very tasty. The bill was acceptable for the three of us.

Negatives Once sat down we were pestered into making our order by rushed staff. Whilst eating the feeling that we were taking too long on the 'conveyer belt' never left us. Whilst eating the staff carried open bins from the kitchen to the front of the restaurant - through the restaurant dodging tables. When it came to clearing the table, most plates were taken but mine was obviously too far away as the waiter glared at me and simply beckoned me to pass my plate to him with nothing more than a derogatory hand gesture, even a hint of friendliness would have softened the situation. Why have a dog... springs to mind! The bill was written in a scrawl that even the Egyptians would fail to understand and when asking for it to be split three ways (pay for what we had) we couldn't decipher it so a member of staff did. Oddly though his three figures didn't match the total cost (we think as there were three totals) and was rushed the payment through so quick you had no choice. When asking for a receipt or a copy of the bill we were told no because he needs it for the taxman (cue dodgy laugh).

Summary Two stars for food quality (seldom find a curry house with hot food) and ability to seat us immediately despite its clear popularity. If you really don't care about service or setting and just want decent enough food, this is a winner. If however you care about how your paid for service is carried out,...

Found this Restaurant open on Christmas Day. No other choice with everywhere closed.

The food was not the best, very overrated and in my mind very expensive.

Service was below what should be expected of such an expensive place to eat.

The main Member of the team took all the orders from each table. He was probably the owner.

There seamed to be an atmosphere of mistrust by the owner of his team, snapping at them from time to time.

The owner states in one of the wright ups l have read that his heros are Gordon Ramsey and Ainsley Harriott.

Perhaps he thinks that is the way to control his team. I can assure him that l have knowing Gordon for Many years and can assure him that Gordon despite his television character, he would not and does not treat his staff as depicted in his television appearances.

The two younger members of the team one young Girl and a Young Man looked very mutch on edge all the time, but they really were trying to do their best.

Overall not a very satisfactory satisfieing experience for me and my wife who accompanied me.

Prices do not reflect the quality of the food or the overall service. The Drinks were extremely expensive to.

The Starters averaged around £8.50 and the main Dish around £18.

Then there were the additions. We didn't bother with a sweet ???

I am a Food Critic, prity much retired now. Although l am currently writing a book on Restaurants, Hotels and the service industry in General.

The comments here are of my own personal view.

If you do visit you have to make your own...
