Didn't enjoy our evening here to be honest. Felt disappointed in the atmosphere and food. The service was OK but that was all really. We ate what we could that was edible and we were hungry (we didn't eat In anticipation to try what we could)
But...
Its nothing to rave about at all. The ice cream was terrible and didn't eat it. It had freezer burn and I strongly suspect it had been refozen due to it being more like a sorbet it had crystallised that badly. The green tea ice cream was grainy and bitter.
The maki was nice ill say that. Could have just had that and been happy.
The decor upstairs was not inviting or relaxing at all, very run down and felt like we were in the storage room with fridges and oil heaters with no decoration at all not even on the tables other then just the menus. Blank lifeless walls with odd bits stored in the corner next to you. Very very basic. Needs seeing to as for the prices you would expect decent view not blank walls that looked very tired and dated.
The desert was the worst and some of the starters were ok but again nothing to write home about really. The mains were the best but but again couple of them were very basic like you would quickly knock up at home what we suspect was frozen chicken and gooey rice in a lump stuck together well.
No hurry to return which is a shame tbh as we really wanted this to be the place we wanted to return to after looking at the reviews and especially the photos (did not live up to the photos at all) so disappointing it really is.
No tip left as we didn't enjoy the experience or the majority of the food. The bill needed correcting but that was handled quickly no issues there.
No didn't say anything at the time as we needed to go due to ticket ran out on the car parking eek. We left the desserts paid and made our way out. Regardless wouldn't have changed our views or this review as this is our honest opinion of the experience. Let's face it there wasn't anything they could have said or done to change our minds.
Oh we also pulled a med length fine hair from the salad, at the time we hold our hands up we were bsuy trying to make the msot of it when the plates were taken it went with it so thought we lost our proof now so what's the point in saying anything about it with the evidence gone. We found the hair at the end (last dish) 😔
But we do feel we needed to share our experience and be honest. We have held our hands up we didn't say at the time about the hair due to losing it when plates were taken and that we didn't feel the food was more then modeoka.
Each to their own, this is our thoughts and view on the evening. You never know it might be to your taste,...
Read moreFrom outside place looks poor and it's easy to miss. However inside can surprise. Staff is so kind, helpful and respectful that deserve for 7 stars plus. Japanese music in the ambient give this place some charm. Most important in restaurant. Food. If you bored another fish and chips this place show you new level of taste. I'm not fan of frutti di mare. Ordered wasabi steak. To be honest best steak in my life. Even try ramen soup, sushi and tempura prawns. All delicious. My wife ordered over 10 meals and try everything. She want to return and try more. Now pricing. According to quantity of meals and appetizers for 4 person (1 is growing up boy who is able to eat 3 kebabs as an appetizer before dinner) I expecting bill around £200. Surprisingly bill was under £150. That's including alcohol and non alcohol drinks. Restaurant isn't cheap. But also not overpriced. If you like sushi and know only YoSushi... this place take you for another level. Portions are big enough to feed. I was full after main meal but my weight is around 10 stones and I expecting not big enough for 20 stones physical worker. Appetizers do their job in this case. To be honest, 3 of us had a problem to stand out of table as we feel overloaded and we left plenty of food on table. Next time we order food more sensible. I'm pretty sure will be next time. This place is worth to visit. Great to discover new taste. And be prepared to share dishes. This is the best way to discover...
Read moreThe best Japanese Food I've had outside of Japan!! Took myself out here as a little self indulgent self date, and decided to engulge a bit and try some things I've not had before.
I ordered the Miso Soup & Beef Yakitori as appetiser, with Fried Vegetables and Tofu as my main (would recommend having this with rice, as Japanese cuisine combines these. You have your carbohydrates as the rice essentially- I just wanted to have some space for more food since I've enjoyed, and do enjoy, expanding my pallette.) For pudding I enjoyed the Fried Green Tea Ice Cream with Fruit Salad, a truly interesting dish that I found myself enjoying. :)
For drinks I had the Cherry Blossom Cocktail & Warmed/Hot Koshino Happo Sake.
Very pleasant restaurant, and I strongly recommend it to anyone within the area. The staff are incredibly attentive and caring to your needs & the restaurant is comfortably sized- I'm surprised that it isn't that popular (I went on a Friday Night.)
The only drawback I would say is it isn't particularly budget friendly- but if you have the money, or budget accordingly with what you can afford, it is an absolutely lovely dining experience with...
