Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Allen Park

I took my sister and brother out for dinner. We chose our friendly neighborhood Applebee’s. We had a party of three and our waitress was a young lady very friendly. My party of three was talking about some political opinions which must have made some people in the establishment mad, so my party at three stopped talking about it. VERY shortly after I noticed the bar tender Kaitty comes over very rude to the table and delivers our drinks with a very nasty attitude. No one in my party three says anything. My party of 3 takes a sip of our drink and noticed we couldn’t really taste the liquor, it tasted like juice. When our waitress came back my party of three informed her that we would like another shooter for our drink. The waitress walks away to ring the shooter of liquor up as a shooter. Kaitty the bartender started yelling at my waitress asking my waitress what my waitress doing and My waitress can’t Ring our order up like that, that my party of 3 need to pay extra if my party of 3 wants more liquor. Kaitty explained that she will only make the drinks if my party of 3 are willing to pay full price for a shot of liquor instead of a shooter. My waitress came back to the table, looking very emotional disturbed as if something she just witness was horrifying, and informed my part of 3 that she can’t change my party of 3 for a Second shooter that she will need to charge us full price for another shot. I informed her that was perfectly fine, and stated doing research to make sure what I was being told was correct that you can only have one shooter per drink. After looking over the find print I couldn’t find anything that fits what kaitty said that my party of three can only have one shooter per drink. I waited until my waitress came back to my table and informed her of the information, that nowhere in the find print does it says you can only have one shooter per drink, and my waitress informed me that was the first time hearing that after working for the establishment for many many months and that she have done it before but today something changed. At that point I asked for the manager. The manager by the name of Michael came over to my table extremely rude and obnoxious. To inform us that those are the rules he came up with just as being a night shift manager. After I informed Michael that this was the first time my waitress heard of it he got very angry and walked off to the back where Michael started yelling at my waitress, creating a VERY hostile work environment to the point you could tell my waitress was very uncomfortable and felt unwanted and a shame.

I really hate to see The owner business ran like this after the owner had to work so hard for something that someone is going to come into and take away from him due to the fact that they are unprofessional, highly uneducated and very temperamental. I believe my party of three race/ color and political opinion, subjected characters and employees of the operation to discriminate against my party of three and such way that the Manager of the Establishment overcharged My party of three, Served my party of three poor quality food, and made sure that my party of three was in a hostile environment our whole time we was there.

My family of 4 visited the Allen Park Applebee’s for the first time for dine in today. We frequent the Westland location but have been disappointed more times than I care to remember. I was pleasantly surprised that this location is still operating with social distancing guidelines in effect which I can appreciate. What I appreciated more was the OUTSTANDING SERVICE my family received today 6/24/2021 (7pm). From the gentleman at the Hostess stand, to our Waiter “Billy”, to the Manager “Shay” and the kitchen staff who prepared flavorful FRESH meals for us to enjoy, the service surpassed EVERY other Applebee’s I’ve patronized. I have NEVER and I mean NEVER been to a Applebee’s location that ran as smooth and FRIENDLY as this one. BILLY IS A KEEPER!!!!! He was beyond helpful, he was patient and very attentive. Every order was correct, nothing had to be sent back, condiments and napkins were provided without being asked, drink refills were done without being requested and the food was delivered to our table in less than 15 minutes. I appreciated that our food was brought out as it came up. I’ve been to other restaurants that bring out a well done steak the same time they bring out chicken tenders and the you end up with the tenders being room temperature/cold waiting for the steak. I like hot food, not room temperature food so I didn’t have a problem seeing my kids begin to enjoy their meal as mine arrived to the table. What I really enjoyed about Billy was his pleasant personality, I could tell by his attitude that he enjoys what he does and where he works which made our dining experience that much better. Billy checked on us frequently, I liked that I DID NOT have to look for him or have another waiter/waitress go find him when we needed something. I was so pleased by the level of customer service at this establishment that I requested to speak with a manager. More often than not, managers are requested to resolve an issue. I was glad to have been able to provide a compliment instead of a complaint. As a person in a leadership position I know how important it is to lead by example.

Each cocktail was a work of art, perfectly balanced and bursting with flavor. Her recommendations were spot on, introducing me to new flavors and combinations that I would never have thought to try.

Beyond her technical prowess, Katie exhibited an extraordinary level of professionalism and dedication. She handled even the busiest moments with calm and efficiency, ensuring that every drink was made to perfection and delivered promptly. It was clear that Katie took great pride in her work and truly cared about providing an exceptional experience for every guest.

In a world where excellent service can sometimes be hard to find, Katie is a shining example of what it means to be the best in the business. Her passion, skill, and genuine warmth make not just a great bartender, but a true ambassador for the hospitality industry.
