Stress on New Year's Eve! Made a reservation here for New Year's Eve and they cancelled it without any ado.
I made a reservation for New Year’s Eve at this place and I did this as early as November 29, 2023. There were two options on JW Marriott’s website for New Year’s Eve reservations: regular seating (no cover, just order ala carte) and a NYE Experience with a cover of $110 per person. We have already made arrangements for dinner and after checking all NY Eve experiences in the area, we realized we just wanted a simple countdown to ring in the New Year. So I went ahead and opted the regular seating option. I gave my credit card to guarantee my reservation and I immediately received an email confirmation.
On December 30th I reconfirmed my reservation and Parkestry returned my call and reconfimed it (I trusted the JW Marriott name so much I only took note of one name – Alexis. The other one I failed to note).
At 4:00 pm on December 31st, I received a call from the place’s management saying that they are cancelling the reservation because of a glitch in the system -- they really were not offering regular seating for NYE. And on the side, they gave the weather as a reason (“besides it’s been raining”). I told them I took screenshots of everything and I was willing to email it to them, but they said it was not necessary. The only option they gave us is to be at their restaurant with the NYE Experience and pay the $110 per person cover. After I ranted and raged at how last minute this cancellation is, they gave us an option to be at the Lobby Bar for ala carte orders. The Lobby Bar where it is usually solemn and quiet, not festive at all.
If they had a glitch they should have communicated this as early as a week after I made the reservation. We felt like management wanted to first make sure that they get full capacity and then discard those whom they don’t need, or compel them to pay. Make reservations at this place at...
Read moreThis place was very disappointing. We went because it’s the rooftop at the JW Marriott, where we were staying, and it was supposed to be for my boyfriend’s birthday (though it’s not actually part of the JW Marriott). I never write reviews, but from the moment we walked in it was disgusting—the smell was bad, and it looked dirty. Still, I decided to give it a chance.
Our waiter, Christian I believe, told us immediately after sitting down that the kitchen was closing and we needed to order fast. The night menu barely resembled the food they advertise. We were starving at 10:30, so we just picked from the few options available. I ordered tacos, but even the onions weren’t cut properly—huge chunks, cold food, and it tasted more like onion than meat. Overall, not good. The server seemed uninterested, never cleared a single plate, and clearly just wanted to go home.
Before all of this, I had mentioned it was a special occasion and asked if we could close the night with a small dessert to sing happy birthday. I asked for the check privately and requested a cake. Christian replied in a hostile tone, “I told you the kitchen was closing when you got here.” I asked if they at least had candles, and he said, “I have candles, but no cake.” When I asked if there was any dessert to work with, he replied, “I have cheesecake.” At that point, I was frustrated but said, “Anything works.”
Even then, they brought spoons for dessert but didn’t clear the dirty plates from before. The cheesecake finally arrived with a candle, but by then I just wanted to leave. The whole experience was horrible and disappointing—nothing like the photos. The place is dirty, the service is bad, and the food made us sick. It was definitely not worth it, and absolutely not the birthday night I hoped for. The only thing nice about this place is the view, but I would never trust them with a special...
Read moreMy first review ever, yes this is that bad. Brace yourself for the worst charcuterie board you’ve ever seen. Not only are the ingredients bottom of the barrel Sysco ingredients, but they literally plated it worse than if they hired Helen Keller.
Not only are the ingredients trash, they aren’t even good together. Like, ah yes let me eat this stone ground mustard fresh from the Sysco jar with my most likely pre sliced Sysco meats. Super good.
Also I can’t not specifically mention the cheese. Based on this alone, fire your chef. He’s not good. Not just a lil. A lot. Honestly it seems the GM runs the show with the menu/ingredients.
Either way after almost 10 years in the restaurant industry and my whole life eating food, this was the worst thing I have ever been served. Maybe not worst but definitely the most disrespectful. Honestly it’s sad the front of house staff and line cooks have to deal with such an abysmal menu. (Didn’t talk about the bread but I’m out of energy. Marcona almonds and cornichon are pretty sick too)
(My wife read this and reminded me the pizza and sliders weren’t “horrible”. She’s kinda...
