We love Voyageurs Bakehouse! Their Appleton store is conveniently located downtown and the staff are friendly and customer focused. Now the goodies - How can one go wrong with their super versitile, yet tasty Italian or a hearty country or seeded country loaf? Sooo very good and sooo satisfying. Want to start off your morning in a super happy mood? Then try toasting their cinnamon raisin maple bread and having that with your morning joe or pairing it later in the day with a zippy goat cheese or mouth-watering sharp cheddar. OMG!!!To..die…for! We purposely don’t get this bread often, because we never want to grow tired of it. It is that flavorful. My wife is German and she says the smell, taste and feel of the Vollkornbrot reminds her of the breads in Germany, and she just loves it as do I. Lastly, the pastries at Voyageurs are super yummy. We especially enjoy the almond croissants and also their large pretzels. Both are amazing. We actually wish Voyageurs would offer their pretzels outside of just October; perhaps one weekend (Friday and Saturday) per month to satisfy that occassional...

Beautiful, elegant sourdough bakery/ cafe/ coffee shop on the SW corner of E College Ave and N Appleton St, just west of Lawrence campus. A historic building, built in 1871, as First National Bank, then a jeweler (“Otterlee’s since 1939” nameplate on building”), with preservation of original brick wall on west side of room. Very clean, comfortable with big windows looking out on both College Ave and Appleton St.

Great service, courteous and caring. The heart on my cottage was not perfect so the barista offers to make me another. Seriously!

The pastrami Reuben was $18, but worth every penny Perfectly grilled seeded country sourdough rye, Maplewood pastrami, Roth aged Swiss, Russian, sauerkraut . Delicious.

Cortado was rich, creamy, smooth, sooo good.

Red wine chocolate plum Danish. Constructed on sourdough croissant like base base, half with powdered sugar, half plain, with a central divet of chocolate then filled with a half plum Yum!

I was referred by a fellow foodie friend to come try this place out and let me tell you about it. The sandwiches are "GOD TIER"! I had three of them thus far and my favorite one so far is their from scratch pastrami Ruben styled one. In every detail they put extreme attention to the ingredients, preparation, and taste. From start to finish you can taste flavors in stages just as in Willy Wonkas chocolate factory story except this is at a real bakery with all their food! The textures and flavors of the food you get here are top class much of what you would find at an upscale boutique in New York or Paris. I would rate the food at a over 5 star rating if it was available. Anyone looking for just a great sandwich or just high quality breads should definitely check this place out!
