Rye Restaurant Update Review 6-7-2024. So it has been about 2 years since we last tried Rye due to staff, sound, & lighting issues. The food remains phenomenal! Our server Sashe was excellent through the entire experience - she knew how things were prepared, assisted in finding options for our needs, and made sure we were happy throughout. We were greeted and seated promptly. Better lighting this time to read the menu, music more appropriate for fine dining. We started with cocktails and Oysters - delish! He loved the jalapenos Remoulade, I liked the mignonette. I had the Bone-in Duroc Pork Chop - it was butterflied to serve, moist, tender, the cranberry bacon balsamic demi was perfect. The Crispy Polenta Cake was a square long stick with cranberries and bacon in it - best bite of the night! He had the Crab Crusted Walleye - very good - needed much more of the sauce and the dill leaves were a pungent overtone to the crabcake, but the fish was excellent. The evening manager was very good at making sure food was getting out, and reservations tables were managed appropriately. I appreciated the servers knowing how to serve plates correctly for presentation and knowing who at the table ordered it - no asking "Who ordered the fish?'' It really exemplifies good service. Overall I would definitely recommend as I see improvements and the food is top notch fine dining! I wish people in the Fox Valley knew how to dress for such a great experience. This is not a t-shirt and shorts place. The evening was worth every penny. If we go back again we will request one of their private rooms or the Tavern seating which is much more conducive for conversation.

Never had a bad meal here but staff and atmosphere need real help. Wednesday 7/20/2022 6pm reservations. Promptly greeted and seated.Too dark to read the menu. (Three tables near us also used the flashlight on their phone)To make matters worse we had one person at our table facing the front of the restaurant and the bright light was blinding him. No shade on the window to draw down. Waiter did not care. Music is not fine dining and too loud. (50’s Hound Dog Elvis, and Animal House Shout we’re the first two songs and it continued) This is advertised as a fine dining establishment based on food, drinks and prices, unfortunately some people think shorts and a T-shirt are acceptable anywhere. Wish this place (and others) had a dress code. We like to dress up and celebrate when we go out for an occasion. This isn’t a pancake house - which I also love and wear shorts and a T-shirt to when I go - but Rye is labeled as fine dining. Atmosphere was nice upon entry (6pm weeknight) but by 7:25pm the conversations were so noisy it was way too much. Food: Stuffed Date small plate, quantity 4 exactly as described. Marinara spiced sauce under the dates also very tasty. Whiskey Shrimp small plate had a wonderful garlic herb tomato sauce - addictive- sopped it up with the bread! Pork chops with carrots - tender and delicious! Salmon - perfectly cooked and awesome sauce. Brussels sprouts were cook thru and charred on the outside. Burger - great! Hint of heat with the jalapeños but the jerk sauce makes it fabulous. Pink as ordered. Ravioli with the arugula on the side. More al dente then I like but delicious sauce and filling. Waiter Shane knew the menu very well. He initially was attentive but once entrees were served and tables started filling we were forgotten. He walked by and asked if everything was ok but was past the table before we could respond and looked over his shoulder as one of us said “tastes good!” Also Shane never came back for more drinks and our empty bar glasses sat on the table while we ate our entrees with our water. Sad because we were going to order more. Between the noise and the poor service follow thru, we decided to skip desert here and try somewhere else on our way home. Great food but probably won’t be back with so many other options in the Fox Valley cities.

I went to Rye restaurant located at 308 W College Ave in Appleton, Wisconsin. My family and I had a great time in Wisconsin this past week. One of the most famous dishes in Wisconsin is cheese curds! So starting off strong we got the Scrays cheddar cheese curds. These came with tarragon ranch dip and were a hit 9/10. We also got the New England crab cakes because we had to see what these were like being from New England and all. We were skeptical at first but these actually weren’t bad. These 3 crab cakes had a warm sweet corn and pepper relish dressing and a truffle creme sauce 8/10. For entrees we got the Irish beef and stout stew 6/10. This was a traditional Irish stew with mashed potatoes and a puff pastry. I think the cinnamon in the dish was a bit overpowering but overall still tasted good. We got the roasted sweet corn and cheddar risotto This had red peppers, poblano peppers, chipotle basil marinade and onions. This was very rich and satisfied all risotto cravings 8/10. We got the pork schnitzel which had truffle aioli, citrus arugula, tomatoes and a fried egg on top! The egg was a nice touch to this dish and complimented the pork well 7/10. Finally, our star dish of the evening was the mushroom ravioli. This had rich and creamy alfredo sauce and used locally sourced mushrooms. I think the only thing that was missing was a tad more truffle flavor 9/10. Make sure you have a reservation for this spot because it can get pretty busy-and for good reason too! Put this on your list next time you are in Wisconsin. Food: 8/10 Affordability: 7/10 Ambiance: 7/10

We have been wanting to try Rye on College Ave for awhile and last night we did. We had 7:15 reservations and were seated shortly after. I had the muddled blueberry lavender martini and my husband had the mojito. Both delicious! We started with the Sauteed Whisky Bacon Shrimp, wow that was an amazing dish. From the sauce the shrimp was in to the herbs and smoky tomato confit, this did not disappoint! We also had the pepper crusted beef carpaccio with arugula, capers, truffle aioli and bellavitani cheese. Wow again! For the main course we ordered the filet of beef with smoked potatoes spinach and port wine demi. My husband ordered the sous vide New York strip steak with smoked baked potato and house horseradish sauce. Also delicious! We also ordered the truffle fries which were also amazing. This place may be a bit pricey and a limited menu but everything on it packs a big big punch! Our waiter Calum was amazing! We went for our anniversary so it was worth it. Definitely will go back!

I had a dinner reservation for 15 people and was visiting from TX for my brother’s court wedding. I must say that everyone at this restaurant made sure that we were satisfied. I mean they went out of their way to completely provide us with the best customer service, prior and during the dinner. Thank you for the flowers that you helped buy before the dinner, it was stunning. The cheese curds were the best thing that I had for sure, I wished we ordered more baskets. My sister and I had the Atlantic Scallops, and the pasta was really bland. I really thought that was going to be a great choice, but I barely ate it because it was not that good. One of the guests also had a Beef Stroganoff and he could barely eat it. These are my only complaints, everything else was perfect. I know other guests had the Wester Ross Scottish Salmon, Filet of Beef, and the chicken marsala. They really enjoyed their choices, they said the food was great.

11/9/18 Just made my second visit to Rye and it is now solidified that it is my favorite restaurant of all time. From the goat cheese curds, to the lamb burger, and Conway Oysters, it is clear that there is truly a passionate staff behind the food at Rye. As if the perfection of food, drinks and service wasn't enough, Jason recognized my previous review and the number of views my photo received and bought me a drink. I know that to top Rye, is truly going to be an impossible feat. I will be returning for more soon and highly recommend Rye to anyone August/2018 Rye was a very pleasant experience. The space is unique, the staff was perfect and the food was excellent. Every item tasted familiar but unique. The portions were perfectly filling. The waiter even picked up the finished plates within 30 seconds of finishing them. The restaurant was also very clean. I reccomend Rye and will be returning for more!
