I lived in Asheville all my life and moved to tn. 13 years ago but go back every couple of weeks to see friends and go eat with them and wanted to go to eat at S&W and our friends had not heard anything about it but was willing to try it so we went and walked in and nobody there so we looked at the desserts and they looked good but went to the food and 1 meat and vegatable or salad for 10.00 and had chicken or meatballs so got small bowl of greens no tomatoes just greens so i ask to put feta cheese on mine then went to get drinks but no tea or ice water but said water was on the table in bottle and not even cold and no glasses to drink out of.What a let down after me suggesting to go there and after eating at the S&W thru the years. I felt bad for going there and leaving and no one happy with the meal and having to ask for a fork and a plastic cup to drink warm water out of.It had no menu whatsoever and chicken was dry and the best thing was the bread.I could not even stat for dessert after paying that much for lunch and get a snack so we went to the pie shop on merrimon avenue at newbridge to have our dessert and it was great.I will go back to what we use to do and thats if we go in and nobody is there or a few are there we will look and leave intead od being ashamed to walk out.Maybe somewill get the place and have another S&W RESTAURANT OR GO TO 5POINTS AND EAT WHERE YOU GET PLENTY TO EAT....
Read moreSo much fun! People were dancing and singing, it was filled with people just enjoying the lively vibe. (And we went there on a Monday late afternoon.)
We tried Peace Love & Tacos … Little Red Rooster & The Blaze. The tacos were good, but not WOW. The flavor profile is lacking (definitely needs seasoned with salt). The other issue is that the ingredients aren’t drained before adding to the tacos, so you have a very drippy wet mess.
We got the seasoned waffle fries from Buxton, they were very good! I am not a seasoned fry fan usually, but the seasoning mix was super good on these! The fries were cooked to perfection.
We grabbed the pretzel knots with stone ground mustard dip and beer cheese. The beer cheese was YumO, the mustard had a lot of hot horseradish which we enjoyed. The pretzels were okay, they obviously weren’t fresh. So I would guess that fresh they would be bomb.
We ended our meal with dessert from the Hop. I got a scoop of Aztec Chocolate, very creamy, rich with a nice kick from the spice. The hubs got a scoop of butter pecan. He said it was very good, but not on the same level as the butter pecan at Blue Mountain Pizza (which is epic.)
All in all this was just a great experience and we are looking forward to coming back. Hopefully next time we will find a pizza...
Read moreWas really looking forward to trying out S&W with friends for dinner. Unfortunately they just don't seem to be ready for business. First there was a mix up on our table. Yes, we had reservations and were told we would be seated at a specific table. After brining this up to the hostess abccwaiting for someone to confirm, we were seated at the correct table. Tried to order drinks, but our waitress said that they were once again out of cranberry juice and were looking for a new supplier. (I hear Ingles has s good supply, you may want to check them out. :) ) since our group did not get there all at the same time one couple was seated at the original table even after we were moved. They set there for 20 minutes. Only a slight apology from the staff. One person in the party ordered the stuffed chicken that was on special. About 20 minutes later she was told they were out. Everyone else's meal came out except hers and need for a very awkward situation for eating. If it were not for good company, this would have been a disaster of a dining experience. Sure hope that management can lead their team to improve to the level of service that their price and atmosphere deserve. It would be a shame for the building to go...
