Visiting out from California. Seeking some good food. Found Matino's around the corner from the Shakespeare Festival campus. The staff is very attentive, helpful and professional. The upstairs in the name is literally need to walk up the stairs, but next door is the street level restaurant location. Go up the stairs, enter into the door, the first thing you see is their full bar and their bar stools. They have inside seating as well as outside dining (roof dining). The food review: the menu selection is unique. Their menu have the titles of each category in Italian from Appetizers, Soups, Salads, main dishes, desserts and of course a separate drink menu (Alcohol, spirits, ect.). I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken (the options are just pasta, or add Chicken or Prawn . There is spaghetti and Meatballs and Lasagna. The bread served as complimentary and you mix the olive oil with Balsamic Vinegar to dip in. The red (out of Oregon) and the white wine (Italy) were a great pair between our dish selections. Had the Mud Pie and coffee for dessert. The coffee is a perfect match with the Mud Pie to top off the dinner experience. I will have to give this a deserving 5 stars rating, aside the fact that this business DOESN'T HAVE a Military Discount. The wait staff did provide a SHAKESPEARE Discount and thanked me for my Service.

So I don’t normally order expensive food, but it was like $20 for my Mac n cheese from here and it was delicious. BUT there was a hair in it. I called and told them and the lady did not offer me a refund. She offered to remake it and send me more, but I said I’d still eat it, like whatever it’s a hair, and I hate waste. I just feel like I should’ve been refunded or offered a free meal in the future or something. I’m not confrontational, so I didn’t demand that, but I just feel it should have been offered.

Rich delicious food in a wonderful setting. The patio is beautiful, but if you prefer to sit inside, the atmosphere is great as well. Generous portions and we left fat and happy. The lasagna is spectacular as is the mac and cheese. Very impressed with the staff as well, our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and most importantly attentive.

Arrived about 4:30pm on a Saturday (30 minutes before dinner hours.) Not many customers at this time. Location was very convenient, as it's right next to the theatre AND they happen to have gluten free items, which is a necessity for my dining party. Walked in the door and began looking at a menu while waiting to be seated. Waited a couple minutes before being addressed by a few employees chatting nearby. Hostess appeared confused as to why we were there to the point that I had to ask if we seat ourself. She did seat us promptly, at that point, and outside in the shade, as I had hoped. The waiter was prompt, but did not offer drinks and questioned why we would want to add chicken to our Carbonara. We did not have to wait long for our food. The Carbonara was excellent with the GF noodles. They over charged for the added chicken, adding something like $9 to the cost of the dish ($4 being gluten free pasta). We had also ordered the Pollo Saltibocca pizza on GF crust. I found it nearly flavorless, with the chopped tomatoes being all I could taste. They upcharged on the 11" GF pizza as well, which was expected. However, we didn't expect $4 tacked onto the price of a larger pizza, bringing the pizza cost to $20. We were pleasant; the please and thank you sort, but our waiter did not make eye contact with us with the exception of questioning the chicken earlier in the evening. Not worth it! Didn't earn the...

I have been going to Martineo's When Marty owned the place. The food was Great then. I have had horrific experiences at the new Martino's I am a 53-year resident of Ashland. I Have also been a server here in this city for at least 30 years working at some of the finest restaurants like Peerless, Alex's, Thai Pepper & Pasta Piatti. Stevo the Monday Evening Jazz night bartender cannot make an Old Fashion. The sever takes on too many Tables people were getting up to get her attention. Poor service on the front of the house. Wine selection is Superb. The final straw came when I had a broken foot and it took 20 minutes to even get a drink order then it took longer to get it delivered. The food order took another 20 minutes the food came wrong I even asked the waitress if they could put pesto instead of tomato on my pasta no problem she says well it came wrong and then it took Another 20 minutes for the correct dish to come by then everyone at my table was leaving 2 hours yes 2 hours to get a simple pasta and a glass of wine. When I got up to pay my bill Steve the bartender told me that I was 86ed I asked him for what he said because I complained well if you complain about your food taking 2 hours to get to you and everyone at your table leaving by the time it does come I guess I'm gonna complain and Steveo you said that no one reads reviews...
