Willie's — Restaurant in Atchison

I wasn't going to make a public post but I was unable to call Willie's to speak to a manager or owner. Last night a friend and I came in to have dinner and we were quickly seated and did order in a reasonable amount of time. The food was also good. The reason for the two star review is due to something else. Once we received our food it was the wrong order; no big deal at first as we thought it would be a quick and easy fix. That isn't quite what happened, after waiting for 5-10 minutes for our waitress to return I finally got up to try and flag someone down. Once she finally came back to our table we let her know in a kind way we had received the wrong order. After that she began to frantically try to figure out whose order we had received. This is opposite of what we thought would happen; we expected that the food would be ran back to the kitchen immediately and then get what we had ordered. After spending several minutes of frantically looking she seemed to find that it was a table caddy corner to us. Important Note: in the time we were waiting to speak to someone we had eaten a few of the fries and pickle off the plate because we were pretty hungry at this point. After taking the plates and figuring out where they should have gone she gave the plates of food to the couple (i think college kids) and brought them boxes for them to take it home. This is where this becomes problematic in my opinion. My friend and I touched the food on the plates and as I said ate a few bites of fries and the pickles while waiting. This is a huge sanitary issue and I'm thinking of it from the perspective that I certainly would not have wanted to be on the receiving end of getting a plate of food that someone else had already touched and ate a few bites off of. My friend and I respect that it was busy last night and mixups can happen; but the way it was handled was concerning/problematic. The waitress wasn't ever rude or anything, just seemed pretty frazzled. I did try to call today multiple times but kept getting the message that phone calls weren't being accepted. I didn't want to post this review but it's also the only way for the owner or a manager to know what occurred last night. We did get a discount on our bill which was appreciated. Just wanted it to be known of what happened with the food with there being a huge sanitary issue in the way it was...

Update: I recently found out from a worker there that when the manager isn’t in they purposely turn off their phones so they don’t have to do any extra work (like pick up orders). Now they have a pre-recorded message on their phone that tells you they’re not accepting any pick up orders. This has caused problems because if you find out the order you pick up is missing anything (I certainly do my best to check everything before I leave), you can’t get through to notify them that you’re missing part of your order. This isn’t how you do business and I’m extremely disappointed in how they’re handling things. I’ve worked at a restaurant so I understand the frustration and struggle. But now things are over priced and the quality of food has definitely decreased. I’ve decreased my score to a 1 star.

The food is good, but trying to place an order for pickup is awful. Due to a weak immune system I can’t come into the restaurant to order (wish I could) so phone is the only way. It’s always disconnected and you have to call multiple times in a row- usually with little success. (Called 199 times...

🤬🤬🤬 UPDATE 12-13-23 The OWNER HERE IS A SORRY POWER TRIPPER... YOU REALLY SHOULD REMEMBER WHO PAYS YOU AND YOUR BILLS!!! Throw a customer out because YOU messed the order up, an order thats on YOUR menu if you were smart enough to look YA KNOW (THE ROAST BEEF MELT)... WE'RE GLAD YOU NO LONGER WANT OUR BUSINESS OR MONEY!!! Can't wait till other customers see how you truly are... PLEASE IF YOUR IN ATCHISON AND WANTING TO EAT ,SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE THAT RESPECTS AND APPRECIATES THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!
