This has only happened once in my life before with pizza.
I took one bite of their pizza and realized I made a terrible mistake.
The pizza I ordered would NEVER be enough to satisfy the greed of my taste buds fully, and I KNEW my diet was instantly ruined for the day.
I ordered a LARGER pizza to go (for later), and it never even made it to my fridge. I was tempted to take a little taste and ate the whole thing at the kitchen counter. Forgive me, Lord, I am weak. Lol
I ate pizza today like it was Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter all in one, and when I woke up from my binge-eating nap, the only thing that stopped me from getting another was their business hours.
The staff, manager, and cooks were excellent, professional, and friendly. They took our order and served the pizzas fast, hot, and well-cut.
The basic cheese and pepperoni pizzas were excellent. So good that my picky eight-year-old spontaneously announced how good the pizza was later this evening and she rarely considers a meal after the fact.
The Buffalo Chicken pizza was better than any I have tasted. It was smooth, with mild blue cheese undertones, and just the right amount of buffalo sauce The chicken was sliced tender and the BREADING WAS STILL CRUNCHY! It would have been some of the best chicken strips I ever had by themselves, let alone as a pizza topping. The toppings and sauces were balanced perfectly. The crust was thin but not soggy or dry and freshly made.
Make no mistake, this was a LOT of food. I am a shoelace under 280 and built like a (retired) defensive end. This pizza was so delicious I ate like when I was powerlifting.
Price-wise, it was a steal. I could have fed my whole family (if I didn’t eat like it was my last meal), for less than drive-thru Taco Bell costs. I don’t drink anymore but they had a pizza big enough for two to share and a bottle of wine for $20 as a special on Wednesday evenings. That's 1995 prices, friends.
I have eaten food from street vendors to private chef's tables all over the world (all but two continents), and I will remember this pizza.
I am not from Atlanta, so this memory will be bittersweet, but I am VERY grateful I stopped in. The garlic knots were very good too, but the pizza was resplendent.
Ignore the low reviews. Some people will complain if they find a $100 bill with a ripped corner.
IF YOU ARE IN TOWN DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THIS AT LEAST ONCE.
Then twice.
Then once more on the way out of town.
Great work Atwoods! You made a beat-up old veteran (and one beautiful little girl) very happy...
Read moreAtwoods is normally pretty good and would make the title of "favorite pizza place in midtown," however a couple times recently, I've walked in to what may be the same staff member that acts like I'm an inconvenience in his store. Both times, I've been asked immediately, without greeting or any other questions ("how can I help", "what can I do for you", etc), what the "name on the order is" - making it apparent that this guy is assuming im a delivery driver or ordered ahead. When I tell him I want to place an order, he immediately shifts his attention off me and tells me rather rudely to use the kiosk. This staff member acts like this store doesn't offer counter ordering at all - from my experiences observing people when I've been here, MOST people, in fact, seem to prefer to order at the counter. On top of that, I've never experienced any other staff member that's had an issue taking a moment to take an order at the counter - it seems to just be this one guy. I asked if he'd please take my order, as I'd prefer the personal interaction and I don't think that's unreasonable at a hospitality establishment - and this guy just told me he was "a little busy at the moment" before proceeding to ignore me completely. (For reference, this was 11/19/2024 around 6 PM, in case a staff member that can actually address this problem reads this. I don't know what their name was.)
I hate to complain like this, but I can't recommend Atwoods when there's one guy there that acts like he's too busy for customers in a customer-oriented establishment, ruining the experience for everyone else. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable, and I sincerely hope the store will take this feedback into account, as Atwoods is otherwise a pretty great...
Read moreWhen in Atlanta, get some excellent pizza! Ubereats had tons of options, but I read some reviews and menus and chose this place to bring us three of the tastiest treats I have had in a while.
Hubby holds Mellow Mushroom's Holy Shiitake as the king of all pizzas, and was amused at the shade thrown by the Not-So-Mellow. It was good, but a pretender to the throne by comparison. Featuring mushroom cream, fior di latte, roasted mushrooms, red onion, goat cheese, truffle fig balsamic, and rosemary.
I am obsessed with BBQ chicken pizza, and the Chicken Coop Deville was fabulous. Loaded with bbq sauce, springer mountain chicken, bacon, cheddar, fontina, red onion, roasted red pepper, fior di latte, parmesan, and cilantro, it was perfectly balanced.
The BEE Me Up Scotty was full of the best Italian meats and wonderful cheese. Red sauce, fior di latte, genoa salami, pepperoni, romano, garlic, datil bee awesome hot honey, arugula, and goat cheese combined to bring huge flavor and perfect harmony. The hot honey drizzle made it so delectable I kept going back for more. Hubby detected a licorice flavor that turned him off, but my guess was fennel in the salami and I had no problem with it. More for me!
The crust was amazing, with the lovely bubbles that make eating pizza a thrill. I was so happy I chose this place, and will remember them next time I...
