The hostess gave me a hard time for having a service animal and accused my service animal of being an ESA. Despite me repeatedly telling them that the animal was not an ESA and did in fact provide a service for my disability, they denied me entry. When I told them that was illegal, they dragged me over to a security person in the neighboring building. I repeated the exact same things I told the hostess to the security person, and the security person thought it was okay for me to dine in. The hostess then articulated that they just did not approve of the service vest that I had and that they have had people “fake” service animals in the past. While I am sorry that has happened, that does not mean someone should judge all future people. Restaurants are allowed to ask patrons to leave if a service animal misbehaves, however I never experienced this as my service animal is well trained. After denying me entry, humiliating me, laughing about the situation, and making me cry on the side of the street, the hostess never apologized or welcomed me to dine in the restaurant, only the security person apologized and told me I was allowed to be there. The hostess claimed to be informed on the ADA, service vests, service animals, etc. despite repeatedly articulating falsities regarding service animals and later stately they’ve never needed anything of the sort. Clearly there is a lack of awareness/sensitivity around disabilities as well as inadequate training. This person should not have a job if that is how they treat someone with a disability requiring a service animal, and their “laughing” at the situation has my heart break as the events of this night have been quite traumatizing for me and have made me feel helpless for needing a service animal. Even though the security person told me I could eat here, I still did not feel welcome nor did I want to give money to an establishment that insinuated that I was lying about my disability and treated me less than other patrons for it. I cannot fathom how someone could harass and bring someone with a disability to tears and then just walk away, no apology.
PSA: The ADA prohibits asking to see documentation to prove an animal is a service animal. Instead you can ask if an animal is a service animal and what service it has been trained to provide. Not all disabilities are visible 100% of the time, and people living with PTSD, chronic seizures, etc. benefit from a service animal.
Update 4/22: The owner claims that I did not have a proper vest or confirm the services that my animal provided which is false, security footage shows this. I showed the service vest to the host when asked (although having a vest is not even a legal requirement) and told the host that the animal “alerts me when I am experiencing the symptoms of my disability.” I am in shock that this host is claiming I did neither of these things. The owner claims, “We proceeded to tell you, we were going to consult with the security of the building if this is allowed, you wanted to follow and talk to the security as well. Security officer was a witness, we did not laugh nor humiliate you. We were stating what actually happened and you had gotten emotional and mad and refused to listen to anything we had to say.” This is completely false as I was asked to leave. The security person was witness to the host laughing, as I even asked the host “why are you laughing?” It is outrageous to make the claim that I refused to listen as it was the host who refused to listen that my reasoning that the animal was not an ESA, and it was not until I finally disclosed my disability / cried that the host relented. I’ve been advised to take legal action and file a formal ADA complaint with the DOJ Civil Rights Division and State of Georgia because of the discrimination I experienced and demands of the host that I show “certification” until I disclosed my disability. I was hesitant, but this response shows no remorse or commitment to change and that this establishment does not fully understand nor desire to understand...
Read moreMy bf’s co-worker praised their RaMyun so we finally tried it. First things first the noodles you can tell they’re probably made there, thin but springy and al denté.
The lobster ramen broth wasn’t heavy and full of actual lobster flavor brimming with a delicate but definitely buttery flavor. I didn’t care for the corn so I savored the six to seven pieces of lobster which were small but meaty. The smoked egg was surprisingly good however it could’ve been omitted since the broth was dreamy and the egg seemed to burst that dream. I probably should’ve had the egg first.
My bf, however even though he had asked the waitress a bunch of questions and her recommendation, didn’t thoroughly enjoy his selection of the E signature RaMyun. Mind you he’s fairly traditional and felt there were conflicting flavors and many ingredients. First he found the creamy broth and the chili oil didn’t pair well, and too many scallions. Otherwise he was very happy with the quality of meat and wished there was more pork and less noodles. Really he was disappointed w/ the chili oil and felt it over powered the dish. After I tried a taste of the broth I agreed, if you omit the chili oil it would’ve been much better.
Our appetizer the Gyozas were excellent, chewy and full of flavor balance of pork, chicken and veggies, however we didn’t come for dumplings! 😅 The service is excellent. Other than that our waitress was friendly, checked on us once during the meal and after. The owner and staff seemed genuine in making sure we were enjoying our meal and experience. Also when I called to ask about parking whoever answered the phone was very helpful! The parking which is up the same street from the restaurant, is in the Northside hospital parking lot.
Overall I highly recommend, somewhat reasonable prices considering it’s midtown. If you’re getting the E signature don’t get it w/ chili oil.
The second time we came he tried The Dark Knight as our previous server mentioned he might like that instead. Again for some odd reason, not what we were expecting. The broth was dense again somewhat creamy and smoky and not in the good way. The pork was good but hardly enough as the broth was strong, noodle consistency same as before spring and al dente.
My dish The Hangover Cure was absolutely delicious, traditional clear broth so savory and light I drank the entire broth and left a couple of noodles. The pork was well done which was slightly disappointing because I wish it was more on medium like Pho. Again what’s with the corn?! I understand the menu is being different and catering to the Western palate but a different ingredient would be appreciated. The smoked egg here is a great pairing. His brother ordered the Chicken Soup Ramen and loved and savored his broth as well. He mentioned one word the entire meal “good”. Enough said. In Korean & Japanese culture, the highest compliment is when the entire table goes silent because people are enjoying the meal.
Our server asked if we’d like chili oil, we insisted no! The dishes were perfectly great without it and I highly recommend you do the same chili oil would 99.9% of the time defame...
Read moreSo I was craving for ramen, I googled best ramen in Atlanta and this place came among others with very good reviews so I decided to drive through the downtown traffic and find a paid parking spot to try this so called one of the best ramen in ATL, the reviews I read were for the lobster ramen and the signature one so I asked the server for recommendations and of course she recommended the lobster one. I got also the fried edamame, didn't look like the picture in the menu but it was OK, the ramen was very flavorful and came up very quickly, it was hot and good, portion is not something to brag about, I would say is very standard with 1 ounce or so of lobster meat. When I was finishing my soup I found a stuck hair at the bottom of the bown, very thin black hair, I have very short hair and my hair is NOT thin at all, those times that you wish is your own hair since you already eat the whole plate but unfortunately it was not mine. It's frustrating the fact that you find something like this when you almost finish your food, the server was busy attending other customers so I went to the register to pay the check. The cashier confirmed my order and start the transaction, then a very nice lady with curly hair who seems to be the manager asked me: how was everything? Then I was like: it was great! But you know?.... I found a hair that is not mine at ther very y bottom of the bown in the last spoonful, then she said: oh no! what did you order? I said the Lobster ramen, I mean I already ate it all, but I do want to bring it to your attention cause is not right. I want to bring it to your attention so they be more careful, She saw me and said: oh..ok. turned around and left me there to pay my bill, I was like:....ok. so I paid the bill, leave the tip and left. Just that lack of emphaty is what surprised me, have I found the hair at the begining probably the story was different, but since the hair was very stuck at the bottom of the plate I guess I was out of luck for any resolution if I got one.
I just read another review of the manager didn't offering any solution when a customer received 2 bowls of just broth insted of the ramen so what can I expect when I found a hair in my plate?
Please before you eat your ramen look for any object at the bottom of your bowl, you might find something that don't belong there.
It was a good experience overall until I found that hair, but it became worst when I brought it to the manager's attention and I received an: oh ok.....and that's was it.
I mean for a $34+ bill I would expect not extra human protein...
