I personally have been here a few times and I can agree with the reviews to a degree. The space has a grandiose appeal and is beautifully styled from the marble to the warm tones. The service from the server was amazing! She ran the bar and delivered our food in a timely fashion! Truly impressive. The biggest turn off was all the other staff. I went to use the restroom and the cleaner looked at me and gave me the meanest stare as I approached the door of the restroom. I really needed to use the restroom and was willing to walk on a wet floor to do so. When she looked at me after I asked “May I still use the restroom?” She responded so rudely “I mean the floor is wet.” I just waved and gave an “ok thanks.” Then I proceeded to go to the front security desk and asked if there was another bathroom available. Security seemed irritated and said “Is there something wrong with the bathroom back there?” (Suggesting the one I had just attempted to use) I told her no they’re cleaning and wouldn’t let me use it. She responded “No, you’ll just have to wait.” I get it someone moping you don’t want to have them walking on the freshly cleaned floor…however who would mop floors and put the ONLY restroom available to all the guests out of service? I just think the attitudes were not necessary and that going forward making the restrooms inaccessible to paying guests is unacceptable. I decided to leave the restaurant since there was no alternative. As I was leaving with my husband there was a gentleman walking a few steps in front of my husband and I, the same security guard specifically spoke to the man and said “have a good day sir” she said nothing to my husband and I as we followed closely behind. If this is the culture of the space I would rather not visit. The feel of this space should be unified regardless of the staff position. The standard should be unified from the server to the...
Read moreLovely atmosphere, but can’t say the same for the service. Food was awful and expensive as well. The Devil eggs I ordered has no flavor and it cost $13. The drinks were even worse. I requested for a remake but of another drink and it was still terrible the second time. I can forgive bad food and drinks but I will not tolerate bad customer service. If I can give 0 star, or negative stars, this would be it. Javier, the bartender, the extremely rude to me the whole time, while he was kind and talkative to my friend. I couldn’t comprehended why he asked me what I’d like to order with an irritated face and threw the check on the bar table like I hurt his family. Not to mentioned when I asked for another drink, he was so bothered! He even raised his voices at me asking if I had a problem with him. Uh yes. You need to fix your attitude or stay home. I didn’t want to stir anything up at that moment because it was put me out of character so I just paid and left. Have you ever had your day ruined over how someone treated you and it just left you with a negative taste and attitude towards that person or the establishment you had the encounter with them? Yeah, that’s how I felt. I don’t know who hired him or allowed him to treat guests like that but it is not acceptable! Midtown has plenty of upscale bars with better food and service, where Javier won’t be there to ruin or day or evening. Save yourself a trip...
Read moreI've been a loyal customer of Office Bar for a long time and have always considered it one of my favorite spots. The atmosphere and the rest of the staff have been consistently wonderful. However, my recent experiences with one of the bartenders, Javier, have been so consistently negative that I feel compelled to share my feedback.
On multiple occasions, the service from Javier has been unwelcoming and frankly, unprofessional. I was once refused a simple glass of water until after I had placed a paid drink order. On another visit, my group was told there was a $25 minimum spend, a "rule" I have never encountered here before and that felt designed to push people out.
What's most concerning is the overall environment he creates. I have personally heard him speak negatively to customers about the employees who work in the building and frequent office bar, which is incredibly unprofessional and uncomfortable. The vibe has become exclusionary, and it feels like certain clientele are treated with dismissal.
Office Bar is a fantastic establishment, but this new standard of service is ruining the experience. I also can't help but notice that many recent positive reviews seem to come from accounts with no other review history, which makes me question their authenticity. I sincerely hope management takes a closer look at what's happening, as I would love for Office Bar to return to the welcoming place it has...
