This unique Buckhead restaurant is like no other I had ever been to, and I’ve traveled the world, so I’ve been to hundreds of restaurants. It’s owned by a wonderful family who treats customers like close friends. The open kitchen allows to see everything that’s going on, so you feel like it’s an open kitchen/dining/living room in a house. I loved every minute here and can’t wait to come back. Let me tell you exactly what I loved.
CULTURE
If you’re like me and love the global world, you’ll be excited and enchanted by this environment. The husband and wife who own Fia have traveled a lot! They feature different parts of our precious earth right here in their Atlanta restaurant. Here you’ll experience Bali, China, Everest, Middle East, and so much more!
SERVICE
Every aspect of service at Fia implies that they go the extra-mile every time. The husband-owner is one of two cheats here and personally served food, as well as recommended wine. He welcomed me with a big smile which I saw through his mask. He greeted me as soon as I was seated. I spoke with both owners - a husband and wife - and my gratitude is beyond what I can express in words for these special people. The wife-owner gave me a thought-provoking private tour, which I appreciated very much.
RESTAURANT
Fia is a ten-out-of-five-stars restaurant with an open kitchen, incredible family recipes, breath-taking interior design, and sift-white lights supplement by candles.
BAR
Mr. B’s bar is named after the owner-chef’s father-in-law who was a lawyer by day but a world traveler and photographer in his heart. His original pictures taken decades ago are featured there and are a special type of global art. I tasted 6 wines: 3 reds and 3 whites. I settled did red wine with my lamb meal. It was very good! The interior designs here is like home, with couches inside and even outside at the pool. And there’s library to have a glass of wine while reading!
LIGHTING
I like relaxing when dining but I also like to see where I’m going. Here, the lights are romantically soft white and dimmed but there are plenty of lights everywhere so nowhere here will you experience darkness. I asked for a few extra-candles and was offered as many as I wanted. Wow! Thanks! I love candlelight dinner!
SOLO
I came here solo and dined peacefully while also being treated as a family friend. This place is so cozy and welcoming! Every woman in Atlanta will feel safe and secure dining alone at Fia for a long leisurely dinner. There’s plenty of sitting do you’re not rushed. The treatment I received was nothing short exceptionally-warm and inviting. I’d eat here every night if I could.
SERVICE
The hostess who met me at the hotel entrance was very friendly and welcoming. She also looked professional yet drop-dead gorgeous! Not only did she let me choose where to sit but also cane later to say hi and see how I enjoyed everything. My waitress Corinthian was a twenty-our-of-five-stars server. I wish I could give her twenty stars! Attentive, accommodating, and aware of my needs. She made my dining experience perfect.
ATMOSPHERE
Some tables have white tablecloth on and others don’t. Some tables are at the pool, in the library, and all over different areas with their own personalities. They have cozy pillows and comfy sofas for a special experience, and I just loved how everything felt, including the couch I was on, the hooks for your purse or coat, and plenty of pillows for back support.
PARKING
Free and plentiful outside parking.
Come enjoy a firework of flavors from the chefs’ kitchen! You’ll love every bite. I did! Even bread sampler they made for me was out of this world! I highly recommend this restaurant to all, especially solo-diners...
Read moreIf you are black, and expect to be treated respectfully while you dine, do not come to Fia. My wife I have been guests at Fia several times. We love this restaurant. We’ve never had a bad experience until yesterday, Sunday, June 8th.
Our reservation was at 6 pm. We arrived early, had a couple drinks and the bar, then just before 6, the bartender checked us in and we were seated at our table. This is when our pleasant experience cease to be pleasant. Our waiter, a white guy in his late 50’s, never greeted us, never introduced himself, never said anything. For about 10 minutes, my wife and I watched him laugh and trade pleasantries with the other three tables. Finally he comes over, clears the extra plates and glasses, fills our water glasses with still water, which we don’t drink. He immediately asked us if we knew what we wanted for our entree’s, so I explained that we were in no hurry and wanted to have drinks and appetizers first. He took the drink orders, returned with our cocktails moments later and again asked if we had decided on our main course. I explained a second time that we were going to relax and have appetizers first. We ordered three appetizers and they were brought to the table promptly. Halfway through enjoying our appetizers, the waiter comes by and asks a third time “do you know what you want for your entree’s? I won’t rush you, the kitchen just likes to know.” I say “ok, that’s fair but are you sure you aren’t going to rush us? You already are and we want to hang out for a while and take our time.” He says “c’mon man I’ve been doing this a long time.” We comply and tell him our choices for dinner. He doesn’t explain the dishes or wine pairings as we listened to him do with the other tables. He took our orders, grabbed the menu out of my hand and walked off. For the next 10 minutes we sat with dirty appetizer plates and empty cocktail glasses, as our waiter attended to the other 3 tables, laughing and explaining the menu and wine to them. I thought that was interesting. Finally, he comes over to take our dirty plates and empty cocktail glasses, and I ask him for another round of drinks as well as the pork belly appetizer. He says “well, your entree’s are about to come out.” I say “wait, wait. Did we not just speak about not wanting our entree’s yet? You just told me you were not going to rush us.” He says “I didn’t rush you.” Mind you, we were seated at 6 pm and it’s now 6:25. He clearly did not want us there. We refused the entree’s, asked for the bill for the drinks and appetizers, which he felt compelled not to charge us for, and we left hungry and my wife was thoroughly embarrassed. She wore a $700 Tory Burch dress and $400 heels. I was wearing a Brooks Brothers suit, shirt and tie, so aesthetically we were more than appropriate. Our server felt like we had no place in this restaurant and his actions made it clear. My advice is this: if you are black and wanted to be treated with respect, do not come here. Clearly the standard procedure is to smile and be friendly with the white guests and to rush the black patrons through dinner service and get them out of the...
Read moreWhen scheduling a going away dinner a month in advance for a friend I called Fia to book a reservation for 15 people. I was extremely fervent in emphasizing that I would call before the 24 hour mark to confirm the number of people who would be in attendance after the RSVP date passed. Without any hesitation, the host took down my name, phone number, email, and card number to put on file. Last week when I called to confirm that I would only need a table for 10 people instead of 15, the General Manager told me that my reservation is NOT on the books, that they are all booked up for this weekend and there would be no way to accommodate my party. They claimed to have called me one time to inform me of this. I don’t have a record of this “missed” call nor do I have an email from them explaining this. I haven’t even patronized this establishment yet, and I am already completely dissatisfied with the service I have received. This was a complete inconvenience and disruption of an already difficult circumstance, that is, having to send my friend off. This would not be an issue had I received proper notification, but I did not. Instead, I was insulted by being made to feel that I was to blame for what seems to be miscommunication and in-organization on the employee’s behalf. I hope the General Manager's treatment of potential patrons is not indicative of the service to be expected of this restaurant. If so, patrons should definitely be made well-aware ahead of time so they may reconsider supporting this establishment. I would also like to note that I have sent an email to the owner and have not heard a response back which is why I am leaving this review today.
Updated to reply to the business owner
When I called last week the General Manager explained that you all called ONCE. I am on my phone frequently and did not receive any missed call(s) from you all. I am also having a hard time understanding why a voicemail could not be left. My phone was and is in working condition and my mailbox was not and is not full. Again, I also provided my email…no email was received from your staff either. If a voicemail could not be left why did I not also receive an email? If I provide you with all my contact information, it might be a great idea to use it. Especially, when I called a month ahead of time to book a table. For anyone considering dining at this establishment please be aware of the potential service you may receive. Shifting blame and switching the story to fit their narrative is unacceptable and quite...
