I’m no newbie when it comes to Pho, especially growing up around the Buford hwy/Norcross/Duluth area. I visited before work and was pretty excited to have what I expected to be great Pho. I was sat and waited on by an older not so friendly guy, he was ok, I guess. I ordered sweet tea and fried egg rolls to start, then ordered vermicelli rice with chicken ( I know I got distracted from my choice of pho). . . Everything SEEMED decently fresh except the chicken, it was SUPER DRY, barely flavored and tasted like terrible leftovers , it was sad. It came out fast, but that doesn’t matter if it sucks. So I told the waiter that I did not like this dish, politely of course, and he didn’t say anything. Even after I told him that the chicken was very dry and bad. I went ahead and ordered the Pho with meatballs. Asked what type of meat the balls were made of and one guy told me tenderloin. . . Ummm, but I tried it anyway and the balls were terrible. It was like some mechanically separated sausage, with gelatin filler. It was gross. I was upset man. The broth was OK, noodles were good I guess. It just wasn’t a great or good experience. Definitely won’t ever go back, will not recommend, and a complete waste of $30. I can’t believe they saw that I didn’t eat much of it, except the eggsrolls (meh), and didn’t say anything about comping at least one terrible dish. Customer loyalty and satisfaction obviously don’t matter. I feel they’re still kicking because people in the area haven’t had excellent variations of these dishes before,so they have no basis for quality annnnd it’s in a...
Read moreThe name of this pho establishment is awesome. Kudos on the double entendre! I approve!!
Anyways, my friends and I were craving pho since it was bit chilly out and chose this place based on the name and location. We shared the appetizer combo that came with 4 spring rolls and 3 egg rolls. I kinda wished that it came with an extra egg rolls so we could all have one though. The egg rolls were good and not greasy, but the spring rolls could have had a bit more rice noodles. It also had some 'gritty' pork skin that is sometimes used in Vietnamese cuisine. So, it can be off putting if you are not used to it or expecting it. Presentation of the appetizer platter was very nicely done though.
As for the pho, I got the combo which had a little bit of all the cuts of meat that they use (including tendon, brisket, tripe, etc). It also had red onions on top which changes the flavor profile slightly compared to your regular pho. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it does add some color to the dish. My disappointment was with the broth being lukewarm and not as hot as I would like. So, temperature wise it became not as appetizing after a while.
Overall, I might come back here to try something else, but would be hesitant getting...
Read moreI recently grabbed a bowl at Pho King in Midtown, and here’s how it went:
The pho often delivers serious flavor and hearty portions. One diner shared that the pho was “nothing short of perfection—rich, flavorful broth paired with fresh herbs, tender meats, and just the right amount of spice,” with generous servings that leave room for leftovers . Fleeting visits also note the food as “incredibly delicious,” highlighting the combo pho and shrimp egg rolls, with ample noodles and meat that are well‑cooked .
There are also reviews that call out inconsistencies: one mentioned that the chicken pho “was kinda lacking,” describing the broth as overly salty and flat, with sticky noodles and odd-tasting chicken . Another praised the vegan pho as "excellent," with deeply flavorful broth, though some found the tofu a bit bland and chewy .
Pho King offers a wide range of items beyond pho—think lemongrass chicken, papaya salad, Bo Luc Lac (shaking beef), banh mi, spring rolls, and bubble teas—with options to customize and accommodate dietary preferences .
Summing it up: If you're craving a comforting, generous bowl of pho or other Vietnamese classics in Midtown, Pho King often delivers—just be aware, quality can vary from...
