The atmosphere here might be nice, but if you're looking for a classic barbershop shave, look elsewhere. I did not get a haircut or anything else here, just a morning shave.
I went in around 10 AM today before work to get a shave. I've had several barbershop, straight razor shaves and I wanted to try them out because they are very conveniently located. Despite the fact that they advertise hot shaves, the shave you will get here is not a classic straight razor shave with a Conair heated cream machine. They use a warming tub for hot towels and seem to just warm the cream by mixing it with hot water. They don't use a straight razor, they use a Gillette Mach 3. My shave cost $50 before the $10 tip. I would not go back. The whole trip was 25 minutes, with less than a minute spent waiting without an appointment and about 5 minutes for the shave itself.
I have outlined the entire process below. You'll note there's many odd redundancies (applying something, wiping it off, then reapplying it again), which I theorize exist to help justify this shave's steep price. They don't add anything functional, but they do take up time.
The shaving procedure as I experienced it today: Lean back in chair with your feet up. Foleded towel used to cover your eyes. Warm (not hot) towel on your face. Cold shaving oil applied. Warm towel back on your face. More cold shaving oil applied. Room temperature to slightly warm shaving cream applied. Warm towel back on your face. Warm towel used to massage and basically remove all of the oil and cream. More room temperature shaving cream applied. Full shave with room-tempurature blade. Warm towel back on your face. Reapply shaving cream everywhere, reshave upper lip, sideburns, neck. Warm towel back on your face. Reapply shaving cream and shave oil to a few touch-up-spots and shave them. Reapply shave oil to most of your face and neck and shave concave areas again. Hot (not warm) towel used to clean your face. Cold towel on your face. Cooling (might contain alcohol?) aftershave applied. Cold towel back on your face. Cold towel used to massage and remove most of the aftershave. Aftershave reapplied. Eye towel removed,...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently had the pleasure of visiting American Haircuts on West Peachtree, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish!
The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The barbershop has a classic yet modern vibe, with well-maintained decor that exudes a sense of professionalism and comfort. The staff were attentive and eager to assist, which immediately put me at ease.
I had an appointment with [Barber's Name], and I couldn’t be happier with the haircut I received. They took the time to listen to my preferences and offered expert advice based on my hair type and face shape. The attention to detail was impressive—every snip was precise, and it was clear that they take great pride in their work. I appreciated the way they blended my hair for a seamless look and even suggested some styling tips to maintain the look at home.
The atmosphere in the shop is also worth mentioning. There was a great mix of music playing in the background, creating an enjoyable vibe that made the experience feel more like hanging out with friends than just a routine haircut. The other barbers were also friendly, creating a sense of community that is often missing in other salons.
Overall, I left American Haircuts feeling refreshed and confident with my new look. I highly recommend this place to anyone in need of a quality haircut. Whether you’re looking for a classic style or something more modern, the talented team at American Haircuts on West Peachtree has you covered. I’ll definitely be returning for my...
Read moreDefinitely the worst experience I’ve ever experienced at a barbershop. I’ve only gone to American haircuts for the past 2 years, but with Will at the Kennesaw location and have only had great experiences. I went to the midtown location having made an appointment, but still waited for 20 Minutes. I finally sit down with the barber who immediately points out the skin issues I have on the back of my neck. I explain this is an issue I’ve been battling with for the past couple of years. He refuses to cut my hair and insists I come back in a couple weeks, though I explain there will not be a difference from now to a couple weeks as this has been an ongoing issue. He offers a discount and just leaves me at the front desk. I try to reschedule with the front desk person, but they don’t respond. At this point, I am frustrated for being disregarded the entire day and just leave. Not only has this experience been traumatizing, but disappointing from what I’ve expected from a company I’ve gone to countless times. I understand if the barber is uncomfortable to cut my hair, though no barber in the past has ever said that, but simply offering to reschedule and not even offering another possible solution to work around it or a suggestion on how to get it the area clear gives me the feeling they didn’t want to deal with me on that day, which I hope was not the case. I know I will definitely not be going to this location again and advise that if you do to keep your...
