Went here last Friday, August 2nd, 2024 to celebrate one of my best friends going away party. A little background, I booked a table for 7:15PM on the South Terrace. The restaurant sent an email confirming my reservation from 7:15-9:45PM. To start off, this is a beautiful rooftop and the vibe of the people relaxing and having a good time there was amazing. However….the dining experience with the wait staff (one in particular) was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant/lounge rooftop.
The hostess directed us to our reserved section. After being seated we waited 15-20 minutes to be acknowledged by our waiter. Our waiter’s name was Jhozae. Once Jhozae came to our section we were not greeted, was not offered water (Please note we were seated outside and it’s still very hot and humid in Atlanta, so that alone should have been served), didn’t ask us if we had questions about the menu, and when we asked for what’s a popular drink Jhozae dismissively said “all of them”. I proceeded to ask to have water brought out to our table as we were waiting on the rest of our party to arrive, but we were told no by Jhozae and that the rest of our party would be provided water once they arrive. To be honest, I just did not want to have to wait another 20 minutes for water so I wanted to be proactive. Needless to say Jhozae was extremely rude and seemed to be annoyed having to be working. Once the rest of our party arrived, Jhozae walked by our table at least three times before I had to call out for water to be served to us. Jhozae again seemed to be annoyed and after asking for water Jhozae asked if we were ready to order drinks and food. We said we needed a bit more time and Jhozae walked off. After another 15-20 mins I was able to call for Jhozae again and said we were ready to order—we had not received our water at this point. I let Jhozae know we wanted more water before Jhozae took our order. It was another 20-30 minutes before we got our food, at this point we are almost more than halfway through our reservation. While we ate, Jhozae never came to check on us, refill our waters, or ask if we wanted more drinks. At around 9PM (we still had 45 mins left on our reservation), Jhozae showed up and slaps the bill (and yes I mean literally slaps) on our table, tells us we have to leave, and walks away. At this point me and all my girls are just pissed and frustrated/annoyed with the service. I tried to flag down Jhozae and say that we had time left on our reservation, but Jhozae said for us to talk to someone else. I asked another waiter if we could speak with the hostess since we still had time on our reservation and we were wanted to order more drinks. The hostess came over and we spoke and apologized for the inconvenience that their reservation system messed up. At this point we were all over it. When I finally took a glance at the bill I saw that a 20% gratuity was added to our bill. I remember that there was an automatic 20% added, but only for parties of 8 or more. There were five of us. This was the last straw. We met with the manager, Anton Jones, and explained the situation.
Needless to say, the evening started out promising once we arrived, but as soon as we were assigned in Jhozae’s section it went downhill. Not only was Jhozae unprofessional throughout our entire dining experience, but Jhozae’s attitude and deliverance the entire evening was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. It’s one thing to have an off night, but all the negativity/negative energy, sub par basic level of customer service and disrespect made us all unbelievably uncomfortable. Not to mention the group next to us had a similar experience. It’s disheartening that this is the level of service customers receive from Jhozae. I would honestly say don’t go here if your waiter is Jhozae, just go to the bar or request another section with a different waiter, but if you end up having Jhozae as your waiter, just expect to be ignored disrespected. All I can definitively say is Jhozae was...
Read moreI booked a reservation at spaceman for a party of 9 on 9/21. I had friends drive 4+ hrs to be here and the night was a nightmare from start to finish bc of the staff and poor management. While this wasn’t my 1st visit, it will surely be my last. We were booked for 8:00pm. When we arrived, we were told the table was being cleaned & asked to wait in the lobby. After about 30 mins or so, we were brought champagne (I assume as a courtesy bc of the wait). Shortly after the manager approaches us and states we would be heavily discounted for the inconvenience. Around 30 mins later, the hostess approached us to let us know we were about to be seated but that after one hour, we would have to move to another table. Obviously that wasn’t ideal, but at this point we were anxious to sit down bc it was 9:00pm. Once seated, I realized we had been lied to. We were told tables were being cleaned but bc of where I was sitting in the lobby, I could see that the table we were seated at ppl had just gotten up from & the table could not comfortably seat 9. We barely had arm room as the table was too small for everyone to even enjoy food and drinks. The table was never cleared either btw, so we were trying to make it work with additional cups/plates that needed to be picked up. 10 o’clock comes and goes & no one approaches us about moving. Our tab had been paid (no discount was honored either btw) and we kept seeing the manager walk swiftly back and forth through the restaurant. We kept trying to get his attention and it seemed as if he was purposely ignoring us, avoiding eye contact, etc. At about 10:15, we flagged down the waitress to ask when we would be asked to move bc atp no one wanted to order any additional drinks bc understandably, no one wanted to have to get up and carry plates and/or cocktail across the restaurant. The waitress responds to our inquiry stating “idk, that’s up to the manager” as if she didht inform us herself that we would be in her section for an hour. At that point, I asked for the managers name because saying “excuse me“ was Getting us ignored. He old us another group was paying their tab and we would be moving shortly. Another lie bc it took an additional 20 mins to be seated elsewhere. By this time, 2 people out of my group left out of pure disgust for how we had been treated. We asked if we could get a round of shots on the house because the “heavy discount” we were promised was not honored. We explained the situation to our new waitress and she said once she got the managers approval that she would bring the shots. We watched her walk around servicing other tables for 45 mins before having to ask her again. By this point there were only 4 of us remaining. As we were getting ready to leave, we called the manager over to us again, to complain about the terrible night we had just experienced. He stated that a large party reserved a table a day prior and it knocked out our booking from the system. Had someone just been honest about that from the beginning, we could’ve left and went elsewhere to enjoy a night where we could be properly accommodated but they decided to lie to our faces so that we would stay and they could profit even if it meant ruining our night essentially. At this point, there were 3 ppl remaining. It was almost midnight. People had to go home to relieve their babysitters, etc. The manager asked us to come back the next day and we explained that wouldn’t be possible. Since we were unable to return the next day, Antone gave us a QR code to scan to email him and promised a $150 off coupon to use for our next visit. He also sent us home with a $12 bottle of champagne, but that honestly wasn’t enough to compensate for what happened especially since the discount wasn’t even honored. As I’m sure you guessed, the manager NEVER responded to the email he asked us to send. Deep down, I knew that another lie and effort to just get us of his back. And While I do understand things happen, the way Spaceman handled us and this situation is 1000% unacceptable and we will...
Read moreI cannot believe this hotel bar was turned into a club tonight. I think like people, places deserve a second chance, so I came to give this bar that tonight. The first time I came, it was close to closing time so I couldn’t give a full assessment then.
When we arrived, there was a line trailing outside of the hotel to get to the rooftop; this was odd to see given that it was a hotel bar and not an actual nightclub. It was even weirder because actual guests were walking by to check-in, while everyone else is just standing there outside the building, not even inside.
We get to the top and it’s well before 8 pm, yet the lady at the front is rudely screaming that they’re not accepting the complimentary tickets anymore, despite the online tickets saying free entry will be until 8 pm. Twenty dollars to get into a hotel bar? Ridiculous. I’ll probably say hotel bar 3 more times before this review is over.
The reoccurring issue about this experience is that my friend and I were not able to sit nearly anywhere because all seating areas required a reservation. First of all, why are there no seating options that don’t involve eating available? This basically means that we’d have to pay to sit down at any point, but no reservations were available anyway. Second, we actually did want to order food, but the only way to get it was to have a spot at a table which, again, wasn’t available online and it took forever waiting in line to even speak to the hostess because she wasn’t even at the desk, so we gave up. Spaceman missed out money there.
On top of this, when we did see one area that looked vacant, we took a seat for a second because my friend was feeling lightheaded all night, but some guy in a grey suit, who I presume was the manager, came in an anything-but-friendly tone, slapped a reserved sign down and said “Someone is sitting here! They’re coming back.”
No “Hey ladies, I’m sorry, this area is reserved but there’s seating or standing area over __” His approach was void of customer service etiquette - just like a nightclub, which is how they were treating the place. Just nasty.
The WORST part about tonight had nothing but to do with the atmosphere and service but the safety. I understand that the event hosted tonight was on the heels of an upcoming holiday so it was likely much busier than normal but it was absolutely toooo crowded for the size of the venue. It was wall-to-wall inside and then you get to the tiny entrance area where the elevators are and it was swamped with people waiting to get in. I’m not even exaggerating when I say I had to squeeze and rub past bodies to get out. And there was still a line of people waiting downstairs to get upstairs. And they were letting them up!!! Mind you… this is a rooftop, hotel bar so God forbid something crazy were to happen, where are people going to flee to safety? Hmm. Not the best scenario. It was just simply not enough space for everybody; make a cutoff and stop being so focused on the money for the sake of both the experience and more importantly, safety.
I’m a pretty reasonable person; I’m not on here complaining that my drink was too sweet or that the ice cubes in my glass were too small or something like that (I didn’t get a drink anyway). These are actual issues that I hope get resolved for the next larger scale event they host or even just when things get busy.
Anyways, if you made it to the end, I think it’s pretty clear that I do not recommend.
I will not be back and I’ll let my friends know to avoid the unnecessary inconveniences and safety hazards that this location...
