I wouldn’t recommend anyone eat at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse in Arbor Walk. The experience was a complete letdown, and with so many better, more affordable options in Austin, it’s only fair to warn others not to waste their money here.
The quality of the meats they serve is, frankly, awful. Every cut we ordered was fatty, tasteless, and clearly low-grade. There’s no care put into the selection or preparation—it’s just bad meat. Their so-called Friday “specialty” looked like it was pulled straight from the fridge and plopped on a plate: cold, bland, and utterly disappointing. It’s embarrassing. The portions are another issue. They’re ridiculously small for the price, and if they were small but high-quality, I could maybe let it slide. But no—they’re tiny and terrible, making the whole meal feel like a rip-off. They seem to put more effort into piling on mediocre fries, which come with most dishes, than into serving anything worthwhile.
Maybe their bar is the real draw, as I’ve heard they have a decent beer selection, but I didn’t try it, so I can’t comment. Based on the food, though, I’m not optimistic. They don’t even offer complimentary bread—everything is an extra charge, which makes the experience feel even stingier.
To top it all off, the food wasn’t just bad—it made several of us sick afterward. That’s unacceptable, especially when the prices aren’t cheap. You’d expect a place charging this much to at least use fresh ingredients, but they seem to have no shame in serving such low-quality stuff.
The one redeeming factor was our waiter, who was friendly and attentive despite the awful food. But even great service can’t save a meal this bad. The restaurant was nearly empty when we went, which makes total sense now. We trusted it would be good, but we were so wrong. Austin is packed with amazing restaurants offering better food, bigger portions, and fairer prices. Skip BJ’s entirely. There are way too many places that actually deserve your time and money.

Read moreDO NOT GO THERE! Now that you’ve been warned I’ll tell you why. As soon as we walked in everything seemed fine. The hostess sat us down and gave us our menus. The server came and introduced herself and took our drink order. That was the end of the normal experience. When I opened my menu it was sticky and reeked of beer. So I got up and went to the bathroom to wash my hands. The soap was empty and the bathroom was filthy. After I got back we ordered 2 of the fried chicken specials and the waitress asked if we wanted to share one and we said no, because we could always take the leftovers home to eat later. When the food was ready she asked if we wanted another plate and we said no and thought that was weird. When she came out she only brought 1 plate. So she gave it to me and went back to order another for my husband. As I was eating it I noticed that it looked like it was a leftover that I pulled out of the fridge from a few days ago. When my husband’s finally came it looked better.
Anyway, this next part will explain the photo. The special was $13.00 for a drink, meal and dessert. So the bill was $28.15. Since the bill was so low we decided to leave a $6.00 tip because we appreciate service workers. I have a habit of spelling the top amount on receipts to avoid any confusion along with a dollar sign to prevent an unscrupulous server for adding to it. The. I write the total in numbers at the bottom along with a dollar sign. HOWEVER, I made the mistake of trusting the server with the extra copies of the receipts so she could throw them away. I usually tear them up and leave them on the table but this time we were in a hurry so I just trusted her. BIG MISTAKE. She gave herself a $51.00 tip on a $28.00 bill. Luckily I used my Capital One credit card and they notified me. The email made it easy to dispute and now she earned herself ZERO tip and BJ’s will never see our business...
Read moreI went to the BJ's location in the domain on Friday, October 6th and unfortunately the service was less than subpar. We were seated at table 303 ( closing out at 9:03 on the app because we could not locate our server). It took almost ten minutes for our table to be greeted. Once she finally came to the table, she seemed perturbed in taking our orders. Please note that there were six patrons total in the restaurant at that time. We asked for two ketel one martinis and to start with the Avocado egg rolls. Generally, proper steps of service would entail bringing waters, plates and silverware to the table while drinks and appetizer orders are placed, and unfortunately this did not occur. The appetizer came out almost immediately, and the food runner did not even stop to observe that we did not have plates, drinks or silverware. My friend and I sat there for almost five minutes before I approached the bar, requesting app plates and waters. When our server finally checked on the table, she fired a cheeky comment stating , "you must have flagged down another server" I responded, "I actually walked up to the bar to get waters and plates, which should have been present at the table at the very least". She stared at me and then walked off. We finished our app and my friend stopped her to say "we are ready for our entrees" . She then responded "they will come out once they are ready", amongst the piss poor delivery of that message, we had to tell her we never had the opportunity to place our order. She looked pretty dumbfounded afterwards. I'm not sure what's going on with this location, but maybe we need to refresh your servers on proper steps of service. As someone that has worked in the service industry for 15 years, her performance was lackluster. She never returned to the table so we ended up checking out on the app. Very disappointed with BJ's to...
