I came to Austin for a work conference, and decided to try Kasa based on the pictures and reviews. Kasa is a "commercial Air BnB" org, and my room was a shabby ground floor room behind the condo building's front desk.
I experienced some problems with the room - hot water heater was very small and only had 10 minutes of hot water to shower with, and the building's fire panel alarmed all night with consistent, loud beeping just outside of my door - I asked to change rooms but Kasa refused my request. When I complained to the front desk attendant about the fire alarm beeping, he didn't seem to care and said he couldn't do anything about it. Since Kasa operates remotely, the on site staff doesn't provide support like a proper hotel does. After all of this, I wanted to sleep in some on my last day in town (a Wednesday, FWIW) Kasa denied my request for a late checkout.
All in all, I was there for a conference, my company was paying for it, and I wish I had just booked a proper hotel instead, where my complaints would have been addressed and resolved. Outside of my problems with the room and lack of quality support, the room was quite shabby compared to the flashy pictures on the website - it looked like a storage room or something that was hastily converted to a living space. My expectations weren't extremely high, but I was still left wishing I had avoided Kasa.
My advice - if you are looking for quality support during your stay, and you want to enjoy a room that matches the pictures online, you should avoid Kasa and look to a proper...
Read moreWe stayed in kasa for 2 nights, the check in was easy and quick. We got to our room, which was on the ground floor behind the concierge, it looks nothing like the photos they post on the website. I looked back on the website and the photos were of other, bigger, rooms but nothing of the studio. We wanted to get some water but two of the glasses had lipstick smudges on them and one of the shower towels had long curly hair on it, I talked to kasa about it and they immediately refunded my cleaning fee. Our room was on the ground floor, next to a service door and behind the main entrance and lobby. It was so noisy, people were walking in and out the service door (which slams everytime), you can hear from the room people talk in the lobby, all the noise they make echoes into the room. I couldn't sleep at all, I was up all night, got an hour of sleep at 6am. Also another noise factor was the street, the windows of the unit are straight to the street, you have blinders but you can still hear the noise coming from cars and people yelling outside the window. Another thing was the key fob, you only get one and for 2 people who want to get around without having to be together 24/7 you can't! Where one goes, the other has to follow. The key fob is for access for everything in the building. The positives for the stay are the gym and swimming pool, both weren't busy at all...
Read moreI thoroughly enjoyed my stay here for my birthday weekend! The building is so nice and the location is great! Check in was a bit of a pain having to temporarily park, then go up and get the room/parking garage key then come back down and park but it wasn't that bad and the temporary parking was right across the street so no biggie really. The room was better than I expected and it was like having our own apartment for the weekend. There is some construction going on but you will find that practically everywhere in downtown Austin right now and none of it bothered us noise wise. The only downside was there was no soap in the room and housekeeping didn't have any either but the Kasa staff are excellent at communicating and even gave me a gift card to go buy some soap of my choice which was nice. There weren't any trash bags in the trash cans and Sunday afternoon/evening we were blasted all day by music/residents partying at the pool which our apartment overlooked. It didn't bother us but it might others. We did want to extend our stay but the room was already book and there weren't any other vacancies at any of there locations which was a bummer but Kasa staff did give us a late checkout because it was my birthday which was nice. I would definitely 110% stay here again....
