I recently visited EJJI in Baltimore, a cozy spot offering Malaysian-style Asian comfort food. The flavors were bold and satisfying, with standout dishes like the fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich was crispy, well-seasoned, and came with perfectly cooked fries, making for a comforting meal. Another highlight was their ground pork dry noodles, which had a rich, savory sauce that clung beautifully to the thick noodles. The pork was tender, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, making the dish one of my favorites.
However, my experience was somewhat marred by the fact that they closed about 75% of their menu one hour before closing time. It was disappointing, especially for a first-time visitor eager to try more items from their diverse menu. I understand the challenges of running a kitchen near closing time, but it would have been nice to have more options available.
Despite that, EJJI is a great spot for those looking for flavorful, comforting food with a unique twist. I’d give it a 3.8-star rating — it could easily be higher if the full menu was available closer to closing time. Be sure to come earlier to get the...
Read moreJust moved to Charm city and im making my way around the ramen shops. Today was EJJI inside Whole Food. I came on a Saturday at 5pm, and it was a nice quiet spot. Staff was friendly, and food came quickly. I ordered the Wet Bird noodles, and added in marinated egg. It comes with chicken, cilantro, bonito, bean sprouts, Shitaki shrooms 🍄 fire grilled tomato, and scallions. The beer noodles have a delightful bite, and wonderful texture. The broth could use a bit more of that Umami kick (for me) but you could easily remedy that with some fish sauce, extra bonito or a splash of soy/garlic oil. If you're a tomato 🍅 entusiast, the grilled tomatos really shine. Next time I'll add Xtra. 🤤 The portion was enough to fill me up before I was finished. For my noods, with 2 Xtra marinated eggs, and a soda I spent $23. Not at all bad. Would recommend and will...
Read moreHeads up, this is located inside Whole Foods! Otherwise, you will make circles around the building looking for it. I only had their Chicken Shoyu Ramen. It was pretty good! Nothing spectacular, but absolutely nothing to complain about. Since this was a chicken based broth, the taste is different than traditional ramen that I have had in Japan or other places. Not bad, but different. Wasn't disappointed, but traditionalists need to know what they are getting into. On an additional note, the employee at the counter was amazing. Very informative, customer service oriented, and enhanced...
