To start positive I'll say- it's decent quality food. The service has suffered SEVERLY since I went their last, their menu is bigger but very much a downgrade in uniqueness since they switched from a fixed menu(when I went last)to a la carte. The sommelier interaction felt forced and rushed (as was most of the service), and was personally off putting. Although she did suggested an adequately good (but naturally more expensive) wine as a replacement for an apparently out of stock montepulciano d'abruzzo that we wanted. A random server took our wine order and then she popped up out of nowhere, looking WAY out of place, as if she was running late for something and gave us a generic taste profile for her suggestion. The bread came out cold & stale and randomly towards the end of the meal vs having it first or with our apps. It was dry, and not fresh for being so early in the nights service (7pm). The trio app of prosciutto weren't discernable in look or taste from each other although they were cut perfectly thin. The trio of cheese was good, but had terrible presentation with a slop of fruit puree. Honestly the most standout ingredient of the night were the peaches that came with the app. They were above and beyond good. The calabrese salami with honey was also decent they sent it out because the wine snaffu and the bill wasnt itemized so im not sure if i paid for it or not. The "pillow shaped filled pasta" I had was good, but was more French inspired than anything italian- the flavors didn't pop in any way- but the cook on it was right and the filling was a decent texture. The tiramisu I got was uninspired, the flavors were "there", but they tried to church it up with a caramel sauce which was unnecessary, it felt like a sponge cake vs lady fingers ( or overly soaked lady fingers that destroy the much needed texture) and the espresso in it wasnt in any way a standout flavor- the marscapone was moussed so much that it didnt give me the profile or texture like it classically should. My cappuccino felt antiquated with an inch over the brim mountain of hard peak foam that I had to clear off to make drinkable without having it all over my face. I had to ask for sugar despite us being in the dessert portion of our dinner service.
From the last time I went there being one of best meals I've had in Baltimore to now... this was completely unmemorable besides my guests at the table. Last time I had an amazingly delicate fois gras, an out of this world flavor beef cheek ravioli, a gastronomicly "exploded" version of tiramisu, and it was so standout even years later that it made last night's dinner & service look run of the mill. There was one server that constantly made sure our drinks were topped off and she was on time every step of the way. After writing this, For a 3 person meal it wasn't worth it, even though the ingredients were good. I just ate at an italian Michelin star restaurant days prior,(3 people), for half the price and it was an explosion of exotic and fresh ingredients with impeccable service from start to finish.
Overall, if you have 300-400$ burning a hole in your pocket and want to go someplace to show off, it's an ok choice for the unknowing. If you value food quality and good service across the board save your money. At that level, being just good, isn't enough for me to return without major changes.
Allegedly, if i remember correctly..... the old head chef ( when I went last) left for another place. I figured since this establishment is owned by atlas group that it was still a safe bet to go to Cinghale, but it just left me dissapointed.
Not coming back here is an easy choice with alternative options being La Tavola, and Sotto Sopra. But after great experiences at azumi, Ouso bay & Monarque-This fell flat of prior experience. Obviously the place is gorgeous, the layout is fantastic, the seperate rooms are esthetically cohesive, the bathrooms have nice individual towels, the bar is very adequate, their after dinner aperitif seemed well stocked. But I'm definitely reaching to end this on a...
Read moreMy name is Marvin Parrott i entered your establishment today Thursday February 27th, 2025 around 5:30pm alongside my cousin Darrell. We were greeted properly at the door, & asked our preference. (table or bar) and at this point we were still undecided on where we wanted to go so my cousin Darrell asked if it was ok to use the restroom. The manager Joey said it was ok I sat down patiently waiting on my cousin Darell to come back. I started feeling as if we were being profiled based on our dress code, so i kindly asked the young lady receptionist if we were in fact underdressed for this kind of establishment and she kindly said no we were fine. When my cousin returned from the restroom, together him and i would then look over the menu to see if this was an option for us. At this point i asked a (unnamed waitress) if was ok for me to charge my phone in which he replied he doesn’t know and he will ask the manager. When the manager, Joey arrived and to be honest, his attitude was not pleasant at all. I kindly asked him if it was ok that i charged my phone in which he replied no. I tried to explain to him, that charging my phone would help me and this establishment, because this (my phone) would be the method i would use to pay. At this point Joey (named manager of Cinghiale in harbor point) would not allow me to charge my phone although money is on my phone. I feel we were being judged based off our appearance, and other reasons no need to be mentioned. I just wanted to display my level of dissatisfaction and disappointment with this establishment, because i was definitely in the mood tonight for Italian. At this point i can never see myself ever patronizing or simply even trying this establishment EVER AGAIN!!! if i could rate 0 stars for customer service i would. Worst part is i looked ahead and this actually had pretty decent reviews. i recommend NEVER trying Cinghiale restaurant in harbor point Baltimore, because if they are pre-judging based on appearance and not attitude, then that is not a place of business i would support nor...
Read moreI went back and forth on giving this restaurant a three or two star review, and at the end of the day it came down to "would I want to come here again?" To me, the answer to that question is no, and let me give you some ideas as to why.
Decided to come here during Baltimore restaurant week to try what was touted as a great Italian restaurant. Before even eating any food, the service was less than stellar. This was not becasue there were too many people (the restaurant was about 50% full at the time), nor a lack of staff (there were MANY staff members running around this night). It appeared that our table had at least FOUR separate people coming over to do different things (water, oil, bread, taking the order) and yet there was a complete lack of synchronization. As an example, half our table received appetizers before bread was even offered, drinks came after appetizers, and the other half of the table didn't get their appetizers for over 10 minutes. In general, with so many staff members it truly felt like we were being bothered every 5 mins with some other ask. I will note at the same time it never felt rushed, so I can't be upset about that.
But, as usual, I know most of you reading this do so to hear about the food itself. Which was...average at best. Certain dishes did really shine (the polenta appetizer was extra crispy and had a great spice to it on the back end), but that couldn't make up for the lackluster tagliatelle dish (extremely watery, broth lacked flavor, and noodles tasted like they came out of a bag) and raspberry torte (cake was neither smooth/velvety nor spongey, and honestly tasted like something was wrong. For once, I could not finish a dish).
When I consider a restaurant like this for its price point (especially in Baltimore) I am expecting a certain quality of service and food. While the ambiance of Cinghiale is certainly top notch (amazing decor, cool fans on the ceiling, and old school entrance) the service and food do not live up to this expectation. Therefore I will likely dine elsewhere when I next...
