I have dined at Lebanese Taverna twice and each time has been a wonderful experience. The customer service, food and ambience have been great. So much so that my sibling & I decided to have a joint birthday dinner at the establishment.
As of today, I’m sincerely disappointed in how management has hoodwinked us with their “kindness” with regards to a billing dispute. I have been charged an overage of more than $600.
From the beginning of our onboarding experience, we informed management that we estimated a total of 15 (minimum) - 24 (maximum) guests.
Mention worthy:
1.) Upon inquiry as to a dinning deposit, we were informed that we were not required to pay a dine-in deposit and upon arrival were given private dining at no additional cost. A contract was not signed.
2.) The manager to whom we spoke stated via telephone that the event would be catered to the amount of people that arrived. Stating that “if 24 people come, 24 come, Mashallah! We look forward to seeing you!” This was the first interaction.
3.) About a week later, an email was sent to the Lebanese Taverna team on Wednesday (7/30) that did inform the team at the time we were expecting a total of 24 guest.
4.) However, we did not receive a confirmation email with detail. Rather, I spoke with staff to inform them that “as of now we are currently expecting 24 guests.” We were then told that they were “unsure” as to why our email as not responded to, but that they would reserve space for 24 people if all 24 guests were to attend. During the dinner, I was personally asked multiple times by staff if any additional guests were to arrive, because it was made known to me that “food is still being prepared”.
5.) The amount of food served at the dinner accommodated 15 guests, not 24 guest. If the amount of food served was indeed for 24 guests, I’m truly flabbergasted.
Today, I kindly informed management about this mishap and respectfully expressed my disappointment with the billing.
Predicament:
1.) I was charged for 24 guests. 24 guests did not arrive. The manager did not remain truthful to his word.
2.) I was told by management as of today that “this is in the contract if you say 24, we prepare 24, and the food was prepared the day before.”
We did not receive a contract, we did not sign a contract. As previously mentioned I was told that the food was still being prepared. Yet again, the manager was not faithful to his word or “kindness”
3.) I was also told “this is not a disappointing matter this is how it works."
I do hope that this matter is able to be resolved respectfully and justly, because this is not appropriate. This is sincerely scam-like behaviour.
If we were to be charged for 24 people, the manager or a trusted member of the staff should have and politely could have informed us before hand. Rather, an act by management has been pulled on 2 individuals that brought family & friends together for a...
Read moreTo introduce myself first, I am a Lebanese guy who hasn't had a proper Lebanese meal in at least 4 months because of the pandemic. Once someone like me hasn't eaten good food like that for that long... You start to crave it... A little bit.
Anyway! I've eaten tons of Lebanese food back home (and outside of Lebanon, but they were bad). So I've set my standards for this place pretty low, since no place outside the country seems to know how to get things right! We don't put rice in shawarma! No cucumbers (use pickles please), no house salad (hell no!).
But I was pleasantly surprised. Blown away even! This place serves the best (closest to authentic) Lebanese food I've ever had outside Lebanon! Hommos, kibbe, falafel, shawarma, Labneh, fatoush... The list goes on and they were on par with many restaurants I've visited back home (I nearly broke down in tears of joy)!
All the way up to the main course of mixed skewers, things were on point. However, the meat was a little too dry and tough (I'd recommend the chicken/taouck, extra toum! (which means extra garlic back home) ).
The service was great. Very nice people and, despite the pandemic, everything was very organized. Very nice atmosphere and old-school Lebanese music in the background.
In conclusion, I am happy and satisfied. Never thought this place would be this good.
If you want close to authentic Lebanese food, don't hesitate to visit this place! I know I will be back when I start...
Read moreI had lunch at Lebanese Taverna with a friend that I havent seen in 15 years. We were the first customers as soon as they opened at noon. We ordered appetizers and drinks everything was great. After we received our appetizers the waiter never returned to our table. Around 130ish (an hour and a half later) We waved down our waiter to ask where our food was and he was like oh you need your check. We are said no we never got our food. We had to get it to go because of time. We didnt get our food until 2pm. We asked could we get a discount on our meal or appetizers for free since we had to wait so long for our food. The waiter and manager denied saying that it wasnt their fault they got too busy, but every other customer that came after us got their food in a timely manner. Also if the waiter would have came to the table at least once to check on us he would have know that we never received our entree. There was a table about 8ft away that he visited 6 times and not once said anything to us. I do not like to pull the race card but my friend and I were the only African Americans in that restaurant. I bet if we were one of the white customers we wouldnt have been forgotten about and they would have been more apologetic. I honestly felt discriminated against and it was not a good feeling. I will never return to this restaurant I did not enjoy the experience or customer service. It has been almost a week and I still feel some type of...
