Morning Mugs isnât a coffee shopâitâs a purgatorial waiting room where caffeine is served with a side of existential despair. Step inside, and youâre greeted by the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the silent screams of every broken dream in the city. The baristas? Oh, theyâre not just slinging drinksâtheyâre orchestrating your slow march toward caffeine-fueled self-awareness. Their cheerful âHow are you today?â isnât small talk; itâs an opportunity to reflect on how bad things have really gotten.
The decor is best described as post-apocalyptic chic. The dim lights flicker just enough to make you wonder if youâre still alive, and the mismatched furniture looks like it was looted from a condemned asylum. The chalkboard wall serves as a community confessional, covered in messages like âEspresso is cheaper than therapyâ and âThis cold brew slapped harder than my existential crisis.â Every corner of the shop feels like itâs daring you to sit down and face your demonsâor at least pay for a refill.
And the coffee? Letâs just say it doesnât âwake you upâ so much as it drags you back from the brink, kicking and screaming. The cold brew is essentially rocket fuel, brewed with tears and the faint echoes of lifeâs worst decisions. The espresso? It hits so hard youâll start questioning your life choices before the cup even cools down. The house blend is rumored to be made from beans roasted over the burning remnants of your will to liveâbut hey, itâs fair trade, so youâve got that going for you.
Morning Mugs isnât just a coffee shop; itâs a performance piece about the futility of existence. Come for the caffeine, stay for the crushing realization that life is a never-ending cycle of waking up, getting coffee, and trying not to cry in public. And whatever you do, donât order the âDouble Shot of Regret.â Itâs not on the menu for a reason, and no one whoâs tried it has ever made it out without a storyâor a restraining order.
So, welcome to Morning Mugs: where the coffee is strong, the baristas are stronger, and your will to keep going is weaker than ever. Have a great...
Read moreI found Morning Mugs on a tough morning, searching for a small treat but not expecting the warmth and kindness I received. Both baristas present were lovely, but one in particular went out of her way to chat with me while my food was preparedâcompletely unprompted. We bonded over our dogs, exchanged pictures, and she even encouraged me to bring along my pup and stop by the window this weekend. It was such a simple kindness, but in that moment, it meant so much.
As a civil servant, the past two months have been an unbearable mix of uncertainty, stress, and watching my colleaguesâthousands of dedicated public servantsâlose their jobs without warning, explanation or reason. The weight of it all has been crushing, and like so many others, Iâm left grappling with fear for my own future as well as the loss of good people Iâve been proud to work alongside.
In the midst of all that, this small moment of human connection at Morning Mugs brought me to tears. Their drinks are excellent (the maple honey latte was delicious, and I already know I want to try the sâmores latte next time!), but the true gem here is the kindness and grace of the people behind the counter. If you stop by, I hope you get to meet the wonderful barista with a beautiful dog named Stormyâyou wonât regret it. I know...
Read moreMorning Mugs is a cozy yet lively coffee spot with a lot of personality. The indoor space is small but feels open with the garage door open, which connects to the shaded outdoor seating area. The open concept brings in fresh air without making the inside too hotâperfect for a summer morning. The vibe was active, with plenty of people working or catching up with friends, which gave the place a nice energy. Thankfully when I went there was one spot open.
As for the menu, prices are fairly standard for a specialty cafĂ©. I ordered the Iced Lavender Chai with oat milk, which came out to $8.52 with taxâa bit on the pricier side, but the drink was flavorful and refreshing. Worth it for a treat.
They also offer breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and wraps, with some vegetarian options. While I didnât try the food this time, itâs great to know they have more than just coffee. They also offer non-coffee drinks for anyone looking for alternatives.
Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back to try something new. Morning Mugs has a great mix of character, comfort, and community. The staff was super bubbly and welcoming, which made the experience even...
