I was craving Hawaiian food today and since it has been over 2 years since I went to this restaurant and I work nearby, I thought I would check it out in hopes that it has changed for the better. Today, there was a young female cashier who took my order. While waiting for my food, I observed her taking orders and payments (cash and cards) as well as taking orders over the phone. I also observed her helping to fill orders by putting a bed of lettuce in each take-out plate. I noticed she did this with bare hands, no gloves and never washed her hands. I also noticed that she wiped the pen that is used by customers to sign their credit card receipts, not with a sanitizing wipe, but with the same rag that she used to wipe the counters. Then again, without using gloves nor washing her hands, she went back to putting a bed of lettuce in the take-out plates. I know, GROSS! When I got my plate, I noticed a man that I thought was the franchise owner so I brought it his attention. He dismissed me by saying, "ok, you got your food, you can go now." I know my concern was not taken seriously because on my way out the door, I heard the girl laughing. I got so disgusted, I threw away my plate. I thought they changed in 2 years but it got worse. I will never go there again. I am reporting this unsanitary condition to the State Department of Health as well as to the L&L Corporate...

After trying to swing by this place multiple times before and after movies next door, the employees putting up chairs and hour or so before their actual closing times has turned us away. This time we actually got in there before chairs are on the table and the place was again empty. The female taking orders took two calls before us though we were there first. Didn't give us any tips, insight or even look me in the eyes. During the ordering. She was very cold and unfriendly. We ordered dine in but got to go containers that were styrofoam and got sliced through as we try to eat our food draining sauce contents under the table making it. It's additionally challenging to take home any leftovers. Food was okay but 808 grinds service and food is much better. The poor service alone will mean my family will never come here again nor will I recommend it. And of course, as we're eating an hour before they close every available table. The employee is stacking chairs on it which is symbolism for stay out. This reminds me of why tips show never be given till after service has been rendered. I feel sorry for the owner. This message is...

I ordered a katsu curry and a katsu musubi. I asked the worker for an extra katsu sauce. The guy says, oh, you ordered a katsu curry, the curry is the sauce. And then I say the extra sauce is for the musubi. Then he says, there’s sauce already on the musubi. And I said, yes there is, but not enough. He then suggests bbq sauce. I say I don’t want bbq sauce I want more katsu sauce. And then he gives me a look, and I respond with, “I’m from Hawaii, this is how I grew up eating it”. And then he insisted on charging me for it! He argued with me and then had the nerve to charge me for the sauce after I asked for it 4 times!

Why argue with the customer? I would have not minded paying for the sauce, if that was his first response. But then after me asking multiple times, he charges me for the sauce? This is a terrible representation of your brand, L&L. Do better. I will not be returning, and will happily spend my money at Roxy’s instead.

P.S. The food wasn’t...

I was extremely excited to find an L&L in Beaverton after moving to the area from Las Vegas where we had a several Hawaiian food options. Growing up in Hawaii L&L was standard Hawaiian take-out food of decent quality, now Im not gonna judge this location based on Hawaii L&L restaurants which have much larger menus and usually bigger portions, but all in all my experience here was good! The man at the counter was friendly & welcoming upon entering, I ordered the Katsu curry and the portions were great, chicken was crispy and tender, curry could’ve had more flavor and the mac salad was just okay. For a decent bite of Hawaiian style food at a convenient location and reasonable price I’d say this is a good option. Definitely will return when I need to satisfy a craving! Note: if you’re not familiar with this shopping center the L&L is on the opposite side of the shopping center behind Ross and the indoor portion of shops.

The food is really good. We have gone each time we've been in Portland last couple years, however, with their steep price increases as of late, I don't think it will be worth the trip again. Expect $15 - 20 per meal, and any extras really swell the bill. I'm sure there are many reasons why, but it is what it is and we may make other less expensive fast food choices. We had the chicken katsu & pulled pork regular combo plate and the Lau Lau regular plate, each with 2 scoops rice and a 3 oz container of Mac salad for $17.95. There were 2 Lau Lau on the plate. Very flavorful and uniquely Hawaiian. Katsu with the katsu plate was crispy and hot. The 20 oz soda fountain was $2.95. Staff was very friendly and patient as we tried to decide what we wanted. Only 2 or 3 small tables inside for dine in. Bathrooms are not available due to Covid issues.

Not bad!! I usually get their loco moco but since my partner got that, I got the grilled mahi and that was delicious and filling. Would definitely go back! I also recommend going to Chicha after for boba - same parking lot and a few footsteps away!
