North cross square — Restaurant in Bellmead

The food at El Conquistador was delicious as always but the service, not so good. We arrived at a time when the restaurant was nearly empty. It may be that that they are shorthanded but we waited twenty minutes for our meal to be served and once served, we never saw our server again. We had to ask another server to find her so we could have more iced tea; when she brought the check, we asked for a " to go" box and we waited another ten minutes until she finished visiting with customers at another table. It was frustrating to wait but for the price of the meal, we would have just walked out without the Leftovers. I think take-out is the best...

Full disclosure I have visited this place since late 1983's while here for college. My routine favorite orders, El Con Deluxe, Taco Plate, Fajitas, on cold days always Carne Guisada, and how can you not order the Ted Special. You all remember seeing him seated at the from at the Waco Dr location, greeting the regulars by name. Those were the days. You can even order tacos and fries and a cold beer for Taco Tuesday.
