Food was 4 stars but service was 1 - During the 2 week "freeze" we decided we wanted to help a local restaurant. So we ordered Thanksgiving Dinner for pickup. They were sold out on Thanksgiving so we agreed to get it Wednesday night. Which meant we were going to pay $40/plate for turkey and mashed potatoes and then re-heat the food the following night for our dinner. Spent $214 for 5 plates and offered a 5% tip for curbside pickup. When we got home there was a hand written message on the receipt saying "Shame on You!". We were blown away and incredibly insulted. We assume this is for the 5% tip. Lost in the selfish expectation of this staff that one should automatically tip 15-20% for someone to box our food up and walk it to our car was that we had gone out of our way to buy from a local restaurant that had been affected by the "freeze". Instead of appreciation for the support, they felt we deserve shame!
While I will continue to support local, I won't eat or recommend this restaurant again. What an embarrassment. Even if you felt the tip was too low, to take the time to write the words "shame on you" on the receipt shows the complete lack of customer service here.
I don't know what the right tip is for curbside pickup. We typically tip 20% across the board for in person service where someone spends hours taking care of us. We don't tip 15-20% at Panda Express and while the food and price is not remotely the same, the service requirement to box the food and deliver to the car is exactly the same. We don't tip 15-20% of our grocery order to our Fred Meyer attendant who delivers our food to our car at pickup.
Maybe we are wrong and don't understand the proper etiquette for tipping curbside pickup and I apologize if that is the case. But that is no excuse for someone to take the time to write such an insulting comment on a receipt. Clearly you don't value your customers unless they provide a sizeable tip that meets your expectations regardless of the effort and quality of service you provide. ...
Read moreMy friends and I decided to go to jackalope grill for a valentines celebration. We had heard raving reviews and wanted to visit a fancier restaurant so we chose to try them out. Upon arrival we were greeted with bread and butter. My friend went to scoop some butter on to her bread and discovered a shard of glass mixed in. Luckily she saw it before eating it. We called over the waitress to showed her the glass shard and she told us that the manger would be over shortly. It took about a half and hour before anyone even acknowledged what had happen. I understand that it was Valentine’s Day and it was very busy but something that serious should be addressed immediately. It could have been a serious problem if she would’ve swallowed it. When the manager finally did come over she seemed to make excuses and brush off the incident. It seemed like she was almost insinuating that we had placed the glass in the butter? We are all in our 20s and it felt like we were being looked down upon because we are younger. At the end of the night our waitress offered us a free dessert as compensation which we declined. We wanted to leave as soon as possible seeing as the experience had been less than satisfactory for a restaurant that averages $30 a plate. After we declined she ended up taking 50% off of my friends meal. Even so, this should’ve been handled better. If I’m paying $$$ prices for a fancy restaurant on Valentine’s Day I expect to have a worth while experience. Our food was also mediocre for the prices. I got a Cesar salad that was drenched in dressing to the point that it was hard to enjoy. My friends got the crispy skin chicken and the radiatori pasta. The chicken skin wasn’t crispy at all and the radiatori pasta was ok. Overall we’re disappointed in the service, food, and experience that we had. If you want to go to an upscale restaurant in central oregon, skip...

Ambiance: Overall the place was nice enough. There was a server there with extremely short shorts and it just made us a bit on the uncomfortable side as well ruined the ambiance of fine dining quite a bit. The hostess was nice enough but seemed annoyed for some reason.
Location: Right next to a parking garage downtown made it easy to access and take a stroll after dinner downtown.
Service: Our waiter was great. You could easily tell he was in training but he did a great job. He joked when appropriate and checked on us regularly but not overwhelmingly. He catered very well to food allergies and assured us when the food came.
Food: The taste was great. But ultimately we both felt our dish was... "Underwhelming". My wife left still hungry and that actually says a lot because she hardly eats anything and feel full. The duck tasted great but it looks like they give you a quarter of a breast. The salmon I had was great but honestly I also felt it was lacking. I suppose when you spend that much on a dinner you expect it to be much better proportion wise. So if you go, perhaps try to get appetizer so help.
Also, the veggies were not seasoned at all or cooked thoroughly. So trying to cut a raw carrot with a butter knife? It is quite the challenge without breaking the plate. They did put salt and pepper on the table for us to season to taste but that is such a cop out.
On the plus side, I do love that they source locally.
Price: After all the above were taken into consideration I took a value of the price and felt it was pretty overpriced. For the same amount I would rather go just down the road to the Brick House or the Blacksmith for a similar dining experience but I would leave...
