I got my engagement ring and wedding band sautered together for $60 and done within just a few days. I was visiting my in laws while on break from school. I wanted to see if it were possible to get my rings attached before I left a week after. The only jewelers that made it seem possible with a not so crazy price was Jean Paul Designs. My husband and I took in my ring. It was difficult to gauge what time he would be in. The sign on the door said the opening time would be "ish" and we waited and still no one. We went for a walk and about an hour later I called and we headed over again and he took down all the information needed and said he would call when it was ready. I got a call from a lady only a couple days later. It was faster than I had expected. I take a look at my ring and the diamond on my engagement ring and the diamond on my wedding band were not lined up as I had requested. The bands themselves were sautered crookedly. Feeling embarrassed I suggested that the rings might be sautered together crooked. The man took the rings to the back to fix them. It wasn't perfect but it was better. There wasn't much I could do to fix the rest. We walked out after paying and I realized that there were now deep nicks in the bottom of my ring from clamps, and the inside of the ring next to the diamond was bent- probably from when he took it back to adjust the rings. It has been a few weeks since this encounter and it still bothers me. I just wanted to make sure that girls like me don't go there without making sure they get exactly what they want. Don't be shy like I was. Or maybe you should take your rings to a more reputable jeweler, someone who has done it before, even if it is...
Read moreAfter a parachuting accident in 2007, I spent a year and a half trying to save my badly broken legs. My surgeon did the best he could to piece together the thousands of bone fragments left behind. Two plates, a titanium femoral rod, and tens of screws were put in to stabilize things. When the realization hit that I wouldn’t be able to run, hike, bike, and play the way I had previous to my accident, I had the hardware taken out in hopes that my legs had healed enough to carry on with my active lifestyle. Sadly, one leg hadn’t. I made the tough decided to amputate my right leg below the knee in December, 2008. It was a good decision for me—I even ran the “Dirty Half Marathon” this spring, here in Bend!
The hardware that my surgeon had removed sat in a bag on my shelf collecting dust for 10 years. I would pull it out now and then, reminiscing what my life was like before my accident, and all I had gone through to get where I am today. As I held the pieces, a crazy idea formed. The large plate looked like it could become a bracelet, the small one, a necklace….the pins from my wrist, earrings. I took my crazy idea to John Paul, and he was bold enough to take on the challenge of creating something beautiful out of something terrible. I can’t thank him enough for the compassion, dedication and care that he took in crafting the pieces I now wear daily. His kind soul and talent was just what I needed to be able to enjoy wearing my memories as I move forward in life’s journey! I couldn’t ask for a better experience, or more beautiful pieces....
Read moreWe brought our 5ct Fancy intense yellow diamond pear shape as the center piece of an heirloom for JP after being referred to him by our realtor as the custom jewelry guy in the area. I am having diamonds from my grandmother who passed at 96yrs heirloom jewelry put in the setting for the diamond. He told my husband it wasn’t his style and he couldn’t/wouldn’t do a custom setting. Mind you, we showed him a custom setting he had show cased on his website that was EXACTLY what he had already done!!! The way he handled our request was unprofessional, narcissistic and he obviously thinks he’s working in Beverly Hills… too big for his britches and when it comes to actually “doing” the work he can’t hang - per 3 other custom jewelers we have consulted. “He just didn’t want to actually “do” the work” was exactly what they said. Taking the diamonds out of my grandmas rings.., too much work, a real custom build up, but remember he could have already used one of his previous molds, too much work. He is a self designated jewelry “designer” who doesn’t know how OR WANT TO put the work in and was very dismissive. Very disappointing. Our last custom Jeweler learned from his Father, he passed, but you sir are a hyena selling yourself as an actual dog when your just gaslighting and pretending. Good luck!! In my opinion he’s looking for an easy buck. Get your custom Jewelry done elsewhere ladies. I am spreading this like fire in my circle who have custom pieces done a lot. #overrated...
