I can only go by my experience at this establishment (saw some negative reviews)... Came here on August 3rd, 2024 (Saturday) around noon. Got in line and looked on the board and also the printed to go menu. We saw the cash and credit card fee policy (it's a small business, credit card fees are terrible and I totally get that it's not their fault they have to pass that fee along to a consumer, think of it as a convenience fee... you already pay for it at the gas station if you use a card)
I ordered a BLTA sandwich with the house made potato salad and a beer. My friends ordered sandwiches and a couple of alcoholic margaritas (mango and strawberry)
Our orders came promptly and service was great. We asked for some napkins and a condiment and were checked on by a server while there. My friends and I agreed that all of our food was really really good and so were the drinks. (And if you don't understand why you have to have the alcoholic drinks inside the establishment... here's the reason - it's under their liquor license... they have to follow the law)
Anyway, we enjoyed our lunch here very much and I'm going to make it a point to come back the next time I'm...
Read moreWe've been coming to Big Bear for several years and have made it through a good amount of the variety of food options offered. I am not sure why it took so long to try Amangela's, but it's now a "must-stop" when in town.
Food: I've been craving a bagel and who doesn't loves a good sandwich? We ordered the Bagel and Lox Sandwich and the Hot Chicken Sandwich. B&L: The bagel was doughy and thick, which I love. The right amount of cream cheese to smoked salmon to capers ratio. I really appreciated the fact that the onions were chopped up. Makes it easier to eat! HCS: Ordered it with the house made foccacio bread. Jalapeño cheese. The spicy mayo really pulls it all together. It has just the right kick and lots of flavor.
Ambiance: It kinda has a vibe similar to a coffee shop in SF/East Bay area. Unique art, welcoming vibe with lots of menu items homemade.
Staff/Service: You order at the counter & food will be brought to the table of your choice. Open seating. The person who took our order was really nice and provided recommendations & answered all our...
Read moreMy husband and I had lunch at Amangelas before heading over to see a movie at the Village Theater today. I had the Veggie Sandwich on rye bread. I liked that one of the options was rye bread. The sandwich was delicious. I could only eat half of it so we asked for a small to go box. Since we were headed to see a movie I asked if it could be kept in one of their fridges til after the movie. The young man wrote my name on top of the take home container and put it in a fridge. After the movie we picked it up and took it back to our cabin. Tonight when we were watching TV we took a break to get a snack and I ate the other half of my sandwich. I told my husband I was thinking on and off how fresh and great it tasted so I had it rather than something else. The side I had was the potato salad and it was really good to. I had regular unsweetened iced tea with lemon and the tea was refreshing. I look forward to eating there again. Highly recommend. My husband had an imitation turkey sandwich...
