Panda Express — Restaurant in Birmingham

Update- I decided to give them another try and it was dramatically improved!! The food was fresh and everything was clean. A new hire struggled with the whole order and wasn’t properly trained. Two weeks later we tried it again and it was decent but some portions were very small. The customer service was excellent the second time.

This is the worst Panda ever! I’ve tried this restaurant three times since moving to Birmingham and last night I just walked out. At approximately around 8:00pm they had only about 35% of the bowls filled and what was there looked like it had been sitting there for HOURS. The other two times I tried this location I had bad experiences with food that I had purchased in the drive through. The first time they got two of the meals that I ordered wrong and all three of the meals had entrées that were not fresh with very chintzy portions. These were purchased during regular dinner hours. I thought this was a one time occurrence so I tried it a second time—same thing practically. This final time a couple of months later I thought I would try it again and I would go inside so I could actually see what I was getting. Not only was I disappointed in the lack of selection and no vegetables of any kind the entire serving area was very dirty with food slopped all over the place. It’s the Great Resignation! Once again this PE is closed for lack of workers available. I don’t blame them though. Minimum wage in the US is a joke. This is at least the 2nd time in a month this branch is closed for this reason. Food is always delicious but can’t get it. PE headquarters, give these folks a raise! I guess this is part 2. It’s now Post-Covid crisis and we tried Panda Express again. It’s worst than last time. I wish I read the review warning about the Beyond Chicken- basically McNuggets doused in some orange-ish sauce. The food was great and fresh. The store was kind of clean. I did notice a couple of dirty tables. I went around 2:30, so well after the lunch rush. I ordered the last of the orange chicken, my husband behind me also ordered it. The manager lady said it would be 7 minutes for the next batch. He was ok with waiting and went ahead and got his side and one other entree while he waited. We ate and waited for about 20 minutes and did not receive the orange chicken. My husband went to the counter to ask for it. The manager acted super confused and was trying to charge him for another plate. This was the same manager who told us 7 minutes.
