We have now been to Acero several times and the food is always good and the service is always on the slower side. However, we still visit because their patio is awesome and it’s one of the few places downtown that you can usually squeeze into last minute without a 2 hour wait- especially on a Friday night. A group of 4 of us went for dinner on Friday night and sat on the patio. We were early for a reservation and it was nice of them to seat us right away. The vibes on the patio were great! We did sit for a while before being greeted by our server. The manager (I’m assuming) noticed, greeted us and let us know that our server was on her way. We said no problem as we were enjoying ourselves and not in a rush. I will say, assuming the server was behind, I think he should’ve probably just taken our drink order to help her out but again no problem. We were finally greeted by our server and ordered drinks, the arancini and a chicken Caesar to start. From the time we sat to getting our drinks, it had been about 20-25 mins. The apps came out a little later and they were delicious. Our entrees then came out. My friends husband got a burger which he has asked for an egg on and it came out without one- no biggie. My girlfriend and I shared the ravioli which comes with your choice of pesto or mushroom sauce. We picked the mushroom. It came out with pesto. We let the hostess who dropped it off know. Our server made her way back and apologized. I also let her know about the egg and asked to pay since we were heading to another reservation and we knew we would probably be waiting on the pasta re make for a while. Our server handled it so well, was so kind, made sure the pasta and egg came off our bill. She also let us know they comped 2 glasses of wine from our bill which we really appreciated. The pasta re make came out pretty quick and was delicious! Other entrees were great too. In summary, Acero has a lot going for it and we will be back. There is always a little something to be desired on the service side. To me it seems more management (section sizes, staffing, etc)...
Read moreWe went here for dinner last night- had a dinner reservation for 6:45pm. The food was pretty good- best fries I’ve had in a long time! Lower overall rating from service and an element of the atmosphere. We were sat in a corner away from everyone else, not sure if we were overlooked accidentally or if the restaurant may have been short staffed.
Our server was lovely and kind, but we could tell she was stretched very thin. We saw her a total of 3 times in the ~1.5 hours we were there: once when ordering drinks/appetizer, when receiving drinks/appetizer and ordering meal, paying at the end. Between ordering our appetizer and the appetizer coming to the table/ordering entree, there was about 20-30 minutes of waiting (ordered chef’s board that didn’t require cook time), then another 20-30 minutes of waiting between getting our appetizer and entrees. No biggie, food takes time to cook, especially when quality made. Only qualm we had was that we weren’t checked on and did not have drinks refilled in the 40-60 minutes of waiting. The hostess delivered our food and seemed very rushed.
As far as the atmosphere, we were sat along a wall of windows and the windowsill had 2-3 dead flies lying there. Again, it’s September and fly’s are bad, but definitely not appetizing and seemed unhygienic. The rest of the place was beautiful and seems high end, so it was a bit surprising to see that!
We would give it another try to see if we had a one-off experience. The food was good and atmosphere (aside from the dead flies) was beautiful and peaceful. We were really excited to try as the reviews tend to boast about service and atmosphere! Paid $74 for chef’s board, ravioli entree, burger, and 1 Diet Pepsi before tip. Maybe service was due to dinner at 6:45pm on a Sunday? Unsure, but hopeful to have a better...
Read moreCame to Acero for the brunch experience today! What a beautiful venue! From each table setting to the gorgeous simple decor, Acero is absolutely perfect. I enjoyed how airy and bright it is while still having such a romantic feel to it. It's a perfect setting for a date of any sort. Our waiter Mark took care of us today. He was attentive and charming. Mark did a wonderful job. We started off with some great sized mimosas. The mimosa bar had several juice options and plenty of add ins! Fresh fruits to candy, you can jazz your mimosa to your liking! We started off with the breakfast board. It came with a series of toasts topped with all sorts of goodness. The strawberry and Nutella was my favorite. For brunch I got the classic breakfast. The potatoes were my favorite part. They had a slight char to them. There was also red peppers and onions in the potatoes. The sweetness of the onions and the char of the potatoes created such a good bite. My eggs were seasoned well. Bacon was tasty. I think the only complaint I have is the Kevin's bacon we ordered. It was good bacon but the way it was described in the menu was not what I tasted. I was hoping for a sweet and salty, candied type bacon. To me it tasted like overly smoked bacon. Overall it was a marvelous breakfast at a very beautiful restaurant. A great local joint to support and have a...
