I was so excited about this place after I saw their review on Eater. When we got to the restaurant we were told it would be a 45 min wait for a patio table on a Sunday afternoon. No problem, we grabbed a drink down at Juniper, which we love and recommend, to say Hi to Kyle and grab a drink while we wait. 10 mins after leaving we got a call back that our table was ready, so we had to extend our time as we just received our drinks. Once we got back to Fork we were greeted by the hostess who was surprised that we were 30 mins late after we called to confirm if it was ok to extend our wait time. Odd... We had 2 cocktails there... that’s all you need as the Mon-ida was watered down and garnished with a lemon... my gf had the old the fashion... Even though it was served on a rock, you can’t taste the whiskey but can see the vanilla beans... For starters we had the clams and Brussels sprouts. The clams and sauce was good. The Brussels were over glazed to the point that the crispy-ness faded. We were debating for the entree but wanted to really this place a chance since we’ve been hearing raved reviews on Fork. We had the surf and turf which was terrible... don’t bother. The steak was charred on the outside and not well done within the inside. This is results of the grill not being hot enough and the meat not being rotated every 4 mins. Of course this depending on the weigh of the cut. The scallops were very underdone. You can tell the frozen taste from it and you can tell they weren’t soaked before hand to bring out the marinate. The mash potatoes were boxed. The veggies were thrown onto the plate with the scallops being an after thought. I was so heart broken it made me doubt the quality of food in Boise. All in all I don’t know what to say...
Read moreMy wife and I made reservations and ate at the fork on the evening of December 27th. The atmosphere is great the look and feel of the place is very upscale! My wife ordered the pan seared ahi, I ordered the northwest filet au poivre. Unfortunately both dishes were pretty disappointing which was a super bummer seeing that the bill easily hit a 100.00+. The pan seared ahi itself was good, a couple pieces were tough from what my wife told me but the wasabi aioli was just over powering. It wasn’t the bite of the wasabi which was pretty mild it was the wasabi flavor that was over bearing. The northwest filet au poivre was cooked properly being cooked most like to 130°-135° which was great, unfortunately they lay down a bed of mash potatoes then the asparagus then the filet on top only to cover it all with gravy. This is a personal opinion and a possible hot take but leave a filet mignon solo to be enjoyed the cut and cooking of it will speak for itself is doesn’t need to be smothered in gravy. The asparagus were undercooked and smashed into the mash potatoes under the filet mignon. Unfortunately the dish was just kind of a giant mess and for 45$ just for my plate it was bummer. We did order the warm butter cake and that was easily the pearl of the dinning experience the cake was sweet, moist and with the ice cream and berries adding balance it all was really fantastic. The service was decent not the greatest but well enough. In the 45-60 minutes we were there my glass was empty for about 20 minutes of it, but it was a Friday evening and busy so understandable. Our over all assessment was we’d come back just to end the evening with the warm butter cake but wouldn’t come back for the main courses, we really wanted to love it but it just fell...
Read moreWhere do I start? Came in and asked for a table. We were immediately asked if we had a reservation. I said no we said there’s a half hour. Wait unless we wanted to sit at the bar or the seating around one of the poles that gave you about a One by 2’ eating area per person. Since it was the first time we ate there, we didn’t know what to order, but decided on the prime rib and the chicken. we asked for the prime rib to be medium rare. It came out looking like they just killed the cow. With my chicken, I got mashed potatoes, some kind of semi-cooked onion and raw brussels sprouts. I don’t know who eats raw brussels sprouts but had I known that they were gonna be that way and I was gonna get two small onions as part of my entrée I would’ve told them, NO. On top of all that not only did we have to wait for our drinks to be refilled, but it took him 15 minutes to get us our check. I’ll see this had I known what we were going to get at this restaurant I would’ve never picked it and it definitely wasn’t worth $100 that I paid for two meals. I’ve gotten better food at a burger joint and got much faster service. Oh, and when we came in, they said there were no tables available yet during our complete stay there. There was a table that had not been used from the time we got there until the time we left yet they continue to hold it for a reservation. Personally, those folks would’ve had to wait if it would’ve been my restaurant because it’s quite evident they didn’t show up on time And I would’ve proceeded other customers and made the folks with the reservation. Wait. Maybe next time they’ll show up when they’re...
