Hello, I was very excited to check this bar out as some friends had mentioned to us that they had amazing drinks and they had wonderful music. We had entered and was amazed at the building and the decorations really made me more excited to have a good time with friends. Unfortunately I was received by a server never coming to a table herd one of them mocking what we had said entering the bar. Shrugged it off and waited for a server to come take our drink order (Waited for 45 minutes) and they never came, we decided to go to the seated bar to get a drink, and were told by the manager (I think, because it was not one of the bartenders making the drinks) to go to a table and a server would be with us. We went back to our table and waited another hour without any service. We decided to leave without having been spoken to by the servers the entirety of our visit, no drinks and a terrible experience. Read moreThis is a two part review so take note. First off is Ochos the wine bar: 4 stars it would be five stars because the cocktails are pretty good but the portion sizes are small for the price you pay. Decor for this building is a bit weird and seats are uncomfortable.
The second review is for Tango Boise which holds weekly dance events here and is part of the reason Ochos exists. The owner wanted a home for TB and has the means to make it a reality.
Unfortunately the organization continues to allow unsafe practices and people to attend. They care more about protecting you from Covid then they do from known abusers. I would not recommend this as a place to learn how to dance Argentine tango as it is potentially unsafe especially if you are a woman. The owner and organizers/teachers are aware of these concerns and have chosen to ignore the issues at the expense of students and participants.
So my advice is, dance at...
Read moreI had some time before the play I was watching at BLT started. I walked over to Ocho and the entrance, the vibe, the atmosphere called to me.
In ordered a "dealing with the in-laws" or something similarly named (a very nice twist on the classic Sazerac) and a cheese and crackers.
The cheese was a solid chonk of cheese, the crackers and fruit were fresh, and the bartender was engaging and friendly.
The home renovated as a dance floor and bar felt like a party a family friend's house. Just comfortable and inviting.
I'd highly recommend Ocho for anyone looking for a welcoming and unique...
