After asking for a non-runny yoke on my B.E.L.T., the staff begin to ridicule me. I started crying, as would anyone in my position, which led a staff member to shout excitedly, "His egg will be dry, but his eyes sure are runny!!!" Everyone erupted in laughter, my six kids being the loudest. The chef came out from the kitchen, jumped up on the counter, and started chanting, "Runny Eyes! Runny Eyes! Runny Eyes!" Soon the whole café joined in. One customer took a selfie with me and said "Thanks Runny Eyes! I'm going viral thanks to you! Show me the money! Cha-Ching!" They even did the hand gesture where you pretend to open an old-timey cash register! I had to wait until everyone had fallen asleep after exhausting themselves due to the teasing of me in order to sneak out. After making sure I wasn't followed, I sat down behind a dumpster in the alley and started to chow. Everything was delicious. The bacon on the B.E.L.T. was thick yet tender, like my heart, and as requested the egg was perfectly dry, like my well of self-esteem. When I opened the box of veggie croquetas I couldn't help but see the face of a laughing customer on each one. I looked at one and said, "I forgive you," then took a blissful bite! It was crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside resulting in perfect harmony! All of the wonderful flavors I experienced that day continue to outweigh the lack of respect my children now have for me. Can't wait to come back! Great location...
Read moreI am hesitant to add my review of Ansots because it is a small place and so don't want it to get too busy.
This is one of our best spots in town and the best basque restaurant as well. The place is a cute mix of modern and traditional with old basque decorations adorning the walls. It is cozy and small and tucked away in the alley of the Old Boise building with the train museum and the french whisk and Jimmy John's on the corner.
I ordered the cod and clams with salsa verde along with the little spicy crispy pigs in a blanket(i can't remember the name). I enjoyed with a crispy cold glass of vinho verde.
The food was incredible the service was great even being so busy at the lunch rush hour. I keep thinking about going back for lunch basically every day.
I saw a few people walk in to pick up their chorizos to go as well.
The hours are focused on lunch, wednesday thru saturday 10-3pm.
Please don't go here so i can...
Read moreOne of the most memorable meals we had in Boise. We stopped in for lunch and were treated to an exceptional experience with the owner himself as our server. He walked us through each dish in detail, sharing background and even offering recipes along the way.
The croquettes rivaled some I’ve had in Spain, perfectly crisp and full of flavor, while the chorizo was rich and deeply satisfying. It was his Grandmother’s family recipe. The highlight, though, was the presa steak, a cut I had never tried before. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender and absolutely delicious.
A rare combination of outstanding food, warm hospitality, and genuine passion for the...
