【USA】Boston: Some Famous Cheap Eats & Personal Hidden Gems 1️⃣ Pic 1: My absolute favorite Somali restaurant—super affordable but a bit out of the way. Hardly any Asians go there, and it looks like a dingy little spot. But their lamb with rice and chicken leg with rice are insanely good. Don’t forget to order their milk tea! 2️⃣ Pic 2: A sandwich shop that claims to have the "world’s best" sandwiches. Open only Monday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM—talk about being picky with hours 😂. I’ve only tried the one in the pic; it’s decent, but maybe my sandwich standards aren’t high enough to appreciate the "world’s best" title. Still worth a try, though. 3️⃣ Pic 3 features two famous spots: First, Luke’s Lobster—arguably Boston’s most famous lobster roll. Personally, I prefer the warm buttered lobster roll from Row 34, but you should still try it when in Boston. The other is Chicken and Rice Guys. Before The Halal Guy came along, this was my go-to. Both serve almost the same thing, but I think The Halal Guy edges it out. 4️⃣ Pic 4: The Daily Catch. A must-try in Boston—their lobster pasta blows places like Atlantic Fish and Legal Seafood out of the water. Tiny place, but the staff are legends. Cash only. Besides the lobster pasta, they have tons of other delicious bites. That’s it for now—I’ll add more as I remember! @foodie @alwayshungry @lifestyle

I know it's surprising, but Chicken and Rice Guys sells... chicken and rice. Once you wrap your mind around that enigma, read on. "Beef and Lamb and Rice Guys" must have failed the marketing tests, but regardless, you can swap out your chicken with a gyro meat mix of beef and lamb. (...or tofu.). Both meat options are yummy, so the best option is to just get both as a combo. The dish is simple: meat, rice, lettuce, and a few pieces of pita. The meat is juicy and seasoned well. The rice manages to be reasonably moist and carries some flavor. The lettuce is there to give some brightness and coolness to an otherwise heavy, savory (greasy) dish. But since the meal is so simple, it's bland by itself. The real stars of the show are the sauces. Be absolutely sure to try one of the sauces. In fact, forgot about the food, just ask for a gallon of sauce. They have several kinds of sauces. The top three, starting with the best, are: 1) Garlic sauce 2) BBQ sauce 3) Mint cilantro sauce One taste of the garlic sauce would be enough to cure a cocaine addiction. Its tangy, creamy, and very garlic-y. The BBQ sauce tastes like a tangy version of a Texas BBQ sauce, as if they mixed sweeter Texas BBQ sauce with tangy-er North Carolina BBQ sauce. The garlic sauce and the BBQ work well together on the same plate. For a regular sized portion, grab two or three of the little sauce cups. For $8, this is a lot of food. To be fair, it's mostly rice, but it tastes great and it's very filling. I often don't finish a regular portion during lunch, lest I overstuff myself. The staff is always upbeat and happy, and the line goes fast. They opened a new location which has alleviated some of the traffic, but you should still try to go before 12. I've been many times, and will say that the quality is sometimes inconsistent. They had a period where I kept getting dry, hard rice, but they must have solved that problem because the past few times I've gone have all been great.

For the price, the taste and portion size are top notch. I've been to the Halal Guys in NY, and maybe because this is a store where they can keep fresh ingredients, but I felt this was much better. We had the Halal Chicken with rice combo plate, and the chicken was juicy and tender. I also loved the broad sauce selection, which again seemed a great improvement to the packaged sauce that the Halal Guys give you. Here you can douse your plate with bottles of hot sauce (medium or extra spicy), mint chutney, or garlic white sauce. All of them tasted fresh and delicious. The person working the cash register had some attitude when we were placing our order, so that would be the one thing I'd dock a star for. But luckily since it's a take and go place we didn't have to deal with too long.

🌟 Chicken & Rice Guys - 280 Washington St, Boston, MA 02108 🌟

If you're looking for a filling, affordable, and convenient meal in downtown Boston, Chicken & Rice Guys is a solid go-to spot. Their menu keeps it simple yet satisfying, offering halal chicken 🍗, gyro 🥩, and tofu 🍃, all served over rice or salad with your choice of sauce.

Their chicken bowl ($12.23) 🥡 was well-seasoned and juicy. The gyro ($10.70) was flavorful, tender, and had that classic beef-lamb blend that pairs perfectly with their creamy garlic sauce 🧄 (my favorite!). Be warned: the hot sauce 🌶️ packs serious heat, so use it sparingly unless you love a fiery kick. Also, if you are vegetarian they offer tofu.

One of the highlights is their variety of sauces—from creamy garlic 🥄 to white sauce and hot sauce, they let you customize your bowl exactly how you like it. And don’t skip the baklava 🍯, which adds a sweet and nutty finish to your meal.

This is truly a takeout-focused spot—the food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the service is quick ⚡. However, ambiance-wise, it’s pretty minimal (2/10) 🏚️, so it’s not a place to linger. But for affordability (9/10) 💰, and portion size, it’s a full meal that won’t leave you hungry. Food-wise, I’d rate it a 7/10 🍽️—tasty, reliable, and hits the spot when you need something quick...
