The food was fine - the customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. I ordered a small catering delivery a day ahead of time and received an email confirming my order. When I hadn't heard from the restaurant 20 minutes after the food should have been delivered, I called the restaurant to check in. They tried telling me multiple times that they had never received the order (even though I told them I had the confirmation email right in front of me), then talked amongst themselves for a while without explaining to me what was going on, then asked me multiple times if I wanted the food delivered tomorrow instead (I needed the food for a work event that was already happening), ignoring my answer when I said I needed it today. Eventually they agreed to deliver my order. I called to check in 10 minutes after the new agreed upon delivery time because I had not heard anything. Again they blatantly lied and said that the delivery person had tried to call me (he had not), and then they hung up the phone. I called back and then finally received a call from the delivery person. The food was delivered an hour and a half late, and if I hadn't called it would have never been delivered at all. The people I spoke with on the phone did not apologize a single time. They placed the blame on me for everything and never took accountability...
Read moreI am not a fan of Falafel King.
I've tried it multiple times, but have been disappointed on every visit. Their food is bland, dry, and generally dissatisfying.
While I'm eating it, I will often find myself thinking, "Am I done yet?" That's how I know I am truly unsatisfied: when I'm wishing the meal to be over. In fact, I often end up not finishing it at all.
The rice is hard and dry, the chicken is dry, and the lettuce is hard and bitter. The hummus is decent, but it's the only way to give the plate any sort of moisture. The pita bread is hit-or-miss, with it often being tough and dry.
Given the quality of food, the prices are very high. You'll end up spending around $10 for lunch.
As soon as you start to order, they give you a giant falafel. I'm all for free food, but it's more of a nuisance... next thing you know, you're trying to juggle your food, this giant free falafel, and your wallet as you try to tell the cashier what you ordered with a mouthful of dry chickpea. It would be much, MUCH better if they simply put the free falafel in your takeout container.
If you're looking for good falafel in downtown Boston, there are many other restaurants in the...
Read moreWe were hoping to find a restaurant like Amsterdam Falafel in Washington D.C. This chain is doing something different. However, it is still good. We struggled with the menu because it wasn't clear what the difference between a falafel plate and a falafel combo plate was and the workers weren't able to explain it. We discovered that those who order the combo received only 2 balls of falafel but got some delicious baba ganoush, whereas my daughter who ordered the falafel plate didn't get any baba ganoush, but she did get 3 balls of falafel. As to the food--it wasn't our favorite falafel ever. It would be nice if the falafel were a little softer or more moist and/or if it were served with more sauce. However, the cucumber salad was so, so fabulous. I would go there just for that salad alone, it was excellent. Also, the baba ganoush is superb! So 5 stars for the cucumber salad and the baba ganoush. They provide surprisingly little pita bread to go with the ample hummus and baba ganoush portions. The pita bread is nothing special. Not warm and unlikely made on the premises, it is something you could pick up at any grocery store. The hummus is also good, but...
