Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits — Restaurant in Boston

Extremely underwhelming experience. Honestly, I felt that I paid $230 to walk in and out of a cooler door and that was it. Drinks and food were not memorable or anything to rave about. I was so excited when I finally got a reservation, but in hindsight, there is nothing to be excited about.

For being a speakeasy, their drink menu was light and the drinks were sub par at best. There were more beers than actual mixed drinks. We ordered 2 frozen margs and needed to ask for 2 shots of tequila on the side to use as floaters because you couldn't taste any alcohol. For being NYC based, their drinks certainly did not seem like it and I lived in NYC for a number of years.

Ordered appetizers and one appetizer never came. Went to ask for it and our waitress said okay, i'll get you a second order only to be surprised when we told her we never got the first one.

We were NEVER presented with a receipt. which I thought was odd or a way to look at our charges. They just brought out the credit card machine and was charged $185 before tip... we ordered 4 drinks, 3 apps and 6 tacos...

The kicker was 2 guys from NYC standing outside the restaurant asking people's experience. I think they worked there. If you need to stand outside your restaurant to get feedback, not always a good sign. Just looked at the reviews and now I know why. Seaport is crowded with taco joints and if they want to survive, they will need to do something more than just walk through a little cooler door. Incould eat tacos everyday, and really wanted to love this place, as one of the few inexpensive take out spots in seaport, but the place has worked hard for their bad reviews.

Inconsistency is the main problem with the food. If you order something you like, chances are, it wont taste the same next time you order it. This is especially true for salt content.

Sometimes, the gorchita tacos are great, sometimes the meat is so salty, one bite can burn your tongue. Sometimes it has lettuce and crema, sometimes it's served like rhe cheeseburger taco.

Sometimes the shrimp tacos are great, sometimes you bite in to an undercooked shrimp.

Sometimes the burrito is good value and you get alot of shrimp, or beef. Sometimes you get all rice and one shrimp, or one tiny shred of beef. And sometimes the rice is good, sometimes it's too salty to eat.

The speakeasy is such a cute concept, but the service is terrible. And again, they are often out of things on Sunday. They have such a small menu, especially for vegetarians and I have gone there with friends, only to find out they are out of guacamole!?

Please get it together Borrachito! My first encounter with you was good, but you've been all downhill from there, and you are always empty these days, even when people are waiting in line outside in the freezing cold for the place next door and you are giving away free...

We ordered take out tonight and pulled up to the restaurant during the pick-up window. The cashier handed me the wrong bag even though they couldn't figure out what my order number was from the Grub Hub receipt. I told them the orders don't match and they had to open the boxes just to verify. They had accidentally given out my order of 7 items to someone who ordered only 4.

They told me they'd remake everything in 3 minutes. It ended up being 15 minutes, and despite me asking them not to include the things from the wrong order (I was told it had only been made 10 minutes before I arrived), they did (the tacos were cold).

We got home and found out there were items missing. I had to walk back in the rain and try to get the cashier's attention who turned their back towards me, mind you they weren't helping anyone at the time. I had to repeatedly knock on the window and wave them over. Told them what happened, they didn't apologize and sounded exasperated.

I checked the items I was given and saw they barely filled up the cup halfway with the birria broth, so had to knock on the window and request for more. At this point another kitchen staff was the one assisting me because the cashier opted to ignore me.
