A year removed from last visit, would Lucky's still retain the coveted 5 star rating?
Drumroll please.
BAM! Hells to the YES!
Lucky's is my favorite stop in Boston. I love it here. I could hang out here every night. The vibe is straight out of Mad Men, with Tanqueray martini's and gibson's flowing about the room. This place is sheer greatness.
If you're hungry the food is great. The appetizers are terrific and will make your ASS grow two inches. Check out the baby corn dogs, hummus and the goat cheese deviled eggs. My table of five were yielding some pretty sharp instruments trying to get at these. The crispy pork belly and brussels sprouts are also listed on the appetizer menu, but I highly recommend you order a side with your entree and you will thank me later.
My favorite dish is the meatloaf, but I also tried the burger and it did not disappoint. The fried chicken looks very interesting and might need to give that a go on my next visit. My cocktail of choice is the Lucky's sidecar, for a twist on the old French classic they use Tuaca instead of brandy....Do not be afraid and try it!
The best night to go? Sunday night is "Sinatra Night", I highly suggest you make reservations and the music starts promptly at 8:00.
If you're by yourself or lack friends? Sit at the bar, there is always plenty of seating and the full menu is offered and you can have a nice chat with some of the friendliest bartenders...
Read moreAll right I took zero pictures because I’ve been trying to stay in the moment when I go somewhere, but to be honest after the moment, I always forgot that I do these review things every now and then.
I went on Monday with a friend to watch the comedy show that is free. First the comedy show was hilarious, some of them are newbies others are experts, and that means that night and comedy experience really interesting to see where people begin and how other people have gotten so far.
I had ordered a few things and it came up to about 30 bucks.
I got myself the Smashburger- absolutely phenomenal. It comes with fries and fries were really good and well seasoned. Then I got myself a sangria, also really good. They gave me extra cherries cause I asked for it, plus the sangria was a very special tangy kind of taste. I loved it over there.
Lastly, I got myself the ice cream doughnut thing. I was obsessed with that and I really wanted to get myself a couple more of that plate. The donuts melted in my mouth. The ice cream speaks for itself. It literally screamed.
But the ice cream donut thing was really my favorite.
The service was really great, bartender is super great at what he does and he makes it smooth that you don’t even notice when the food is here and how long you been waiting...
Read moreWe went here for a night cap after visiting the holiday market in Seaport and ended up staying for 3 drinks! The vibe with the red lighting, the old photos, being partially underground, it was all very neat. Our bartender who called himself "Shamus", but came up as "John" on our receipt was a hoot. He definitely knew how to get a rise out of customers (or put them in their place with some snark if they had one too many).
I told Shamus that I was picky about my dirty martinis and his was the best one I've ever had next to the one my husband makes me; he told me "put that on yelp, eh?!" but I'm putting it on here because I haven't read a yelp review since 2010. My husband had a classic old fashioned and it was absolutely perfect.
We had their bar food special that night which was chicken tenders - they were delicious -- all white meat, moist and appeared to be either hand breaded or just really good quality -- the sauce was delicious, and you can't go wrong with $1 tendies! Everyone else was ordering their pizza which also looked excellent.
I'd highly recommend stopping here for a fun, old school speakeasy vibe, good drinks, and some...
