My wife and I had spent a very very long morning with family at the Institute for Contemporary Art. We had been on our feet forever and we really needed a break. While we were both not quite hungry yet I needed a small pick me up and was fighting some indigestion from a meal the night before so we thought that we might just grab a quick cup of coffee and maybe a pastry. We had been on our feet for hours and were very very tired. Well at least I was tired. It turned out that my wife was actually past the point of exhaustion. Anyway we stopped at Tatte because it was close and it was open but we were very dismayed to see how many people were there. This particular location near the Seaport is always excessively crowded and we usually give up on it because of that. People are not very nice there too. Despite the crowd I really wanted coffee so we placed an order in the hopes that a table would open up. Even a chair would have been nice.
We waited in the long line for what felt like thirty minutes and as usual there was not a single place to sit down. This is very annoying by the way. As I was speaking to the very sweet girl at the counter the other barista took one look at my wife and asked if she was okay. I guess she wasn't because she was about to faint and I didn't notice but he did. He ran around the counter and got her a chair from somewhere. Thanks to his quick thinking she was able to sit before she passed out and after some very good coffee and a delicious avocado tartine she was fine. Karina the manager came out to see what was going on and he was very nice too by clearing us a better space and getting us an extra treat. I would normally give the place two or three stars because of the lines and crowds but today they earned four. This incident changed my mind about the place.
It made me reconsider the negative press I had heard about the place regarding the way employees of color were treated. I was a manager of people for many years and was very appalled to learn of the racism whether overt or hidden. Mistreating employees and treating them unfairly leads to great job dissatisfaction which manifests itself in the form of bad customer service. This time however the customer service was outstanding and the barista that saved my wife was a young man of color. I hope you...

Read moreTatte's in the Seaport district/200 Pier 4 Blvd. has just started there dinner service. It starts at 5:00pm til 8:00pm for now. I decided to go there for my dinner. I got the roasted mushroom hummus with pita bread & chicken kebabs. The hummus is outstanding & the "pita bread" is so delicious that I couldn't believe it. This pita bread is the star of the show! They served the pita bread warm with the hummus plate. The two items made it a great symphony. I know what you're thinking pita bread always is served with pita bread. Yes! That's True however that pita bread is one I've never tasted before; soft, fluffy & simply delicious. You can tell that they have put a lot of care & dedication to make sure the hummus & the pita bread would be worthy of "Michelin Star"!! WOW! You have to try it! you be the judge & I'm sure you will not be disappointed! The chicken kebabs was excellent. The sauce & topping combination was a great choice. It was layed on top a lavesh bread which was slightly toasted! I love the way the dishes were presented. The staff was very courtesy, friendly & inviting! The staff asked for feedback & recommendation/request which I found refreshing. I hope that they would consider selling the "pita bread" as one of their items maybe 5 in a pack. I will be going back to try more of the dinner items since this experience was so joyful. The price point of all of the dinner dishes was very reasonable given that they are in the seaport. In other words you will get a great value for your buck! Very afforable along with great service & quality food. Nice & fresh! Give their dinner menu a try! I'm sure you will just love it;...
