The Farmhouse Restaurant: Where the Chicken is Pam Fried and the Apple Dumplings are Divine
I’ve been to a lot of places in my life, but nothing prepared me for the culinary delight that awaited me at the Farmhouse Restaurant in Branson, Missouri. This place is a hidden gem, a family-owned eatery that serves up some of the best Southern food you’ll ever taste. And I’m not exaggerating. This is the real deal, folks.
My wife Kimberly and I paid the Farmhouse Restaurant a visit this week looking for some delicious mouth-watering food. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who showed us to our table with a view of the restaurant. The place was cozy and charming, with wooden beams, checkered tablecloths, and vintage signs. It felt like we had stepped into a country home.
We scanned the menu, which was full of tempting options. Fried chicken, chicken fried steak, meatloaf, pot roast, ham and beans, cornbread, biscuits and gravy… you name it, they had it. And everything was made from scratch, using fresh and local ingredients. We decided to go for the classics: chicken fried steak for Kimberly, and fried chicken platter for me. Both came with mashed potatoes, white gravy, and fried cinnamon apples. And of course, we couldn’t resist ordering an apple dumpling with cinnamon ice cream for dessert.
The food arrived in no time, and it was glorious. The portions were huge, enough to feed an army. The chicken fried steak was a masterpiece, a thick and juicy cut of beef, coated with a crispy and golden batter, and smothered with a creamy and savory gravy. Kimberly said it melted in her mouth like butter. The fried chicken was equally impressive, a half a bird cut into pieces, seasoned with herbs and spices, and fried to perfection. It was crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor. The mashed potatoes were smooth and rich, the perfect accompaniment to the meat. The apples were sweet and tangy, adding a touch of freshness to the dish. It was comfort food in its most elevated form.
We devoured our plates with gusto, savoring every bite. We barely had room for dessert, but we couldn’t say no to the apple dumplings with cinnamon ice cream. It was worth it. The dumpling was homemade, with a flaky crust and wrapped around a honey crisp apple with a dollop of cinnamon ice cream. It was warm and delicious, especially with a scoop of ice cream on the side. It was the perfect way to end our meal.
We left the Farmhouse Restaurant feeling full and happy. We had just experienced one of the best meals of our lives, in one of the most charming places we’ve ever been to. The food was amazing, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. We couldn’t ask for more.
If you’re ever in Branson, Missouri, do yourself a favor and visit the Farmhouse Restaurant. You’ll be glad you did. Trust me on this one. This place is a must-try for anyone who loves Southern food or just good food in general. You...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Branson, MO for a short Vaca for a few days and arrived in town on Thursday, June 29, 2023 and once we checked into our Cabin where we were staying, we began looking for a place we could eat at for dinner. As I was scrolling through the many places to chose from the Farmhouse Restaurant caught my eye and I let my husband know we should go try it and it was located in the Historical Downtown District of Branson, MO and by the photos that appeared online the food looked delicious. We arrived @ the Restaurant which was very busy, it is a small place but fortunate for us, we didn’t have to wait to be seated. Husband ordered Reg Sweet Tea and I ordered the Peach Sweet Tea and both were amazing and came in huge oversized Mason Jars to drink out of. Husband chose steak, sweet potato, baked beans, seasoned broccoli and it came with a huge biscuit, I ordered the chicken & dumplings, baked beans & seasoned broccoli which also came with a huge biscuit and the waiter, Shawn brought over some butter & jellies. Shawn our waiter was fantastic, he came over @ just the rt times to refill our drinks, have a tiny conversation to let us know our food was being prepared etc, he wasn’t overly pushy or forgot abt us he was just perfect and seemed to know the exact moments to show up. Also, apparently they have to get your food out to the table in a certain amt of time or you get (1) FREE COBBLER on them! They have Peach, Cherry & Blackberry to choose from. Myself and hubs both chose Peach which by the time we received our meal they had gone over the allotted time by 6 mins so we indeed got to choose (1) FREE COBBLER and we were so full we had no restrictions bc the (1) was FREE that we had to eat it there, we were able to let Shawn know we’d like to take both to go and they didn’t short change us and completely filled the to go container to the rim! The Peach Cobbler was amazing! Trust me when I say, this is a place to visit and eat & if for some reason there is a wait, be patient it is worth the wait for the food, service and staff! We’re considering going back sometime before end of the year and trust me Farmhouse Restaurant is and will be on our list to visit and eat @ again! I hope they stay in business for a very long time! Drop by say hello to Shawn, the rest of the Wait Staff and wonderful Kitchen Staff preparing those delicious meals and don’t forget to tip them! They do...
Read moreWe arrived about a hr prior to closing on a Monday Evening. Clearly, the place is popular as we were not the only ones showing up for a late dinner. We were seated after about a 15 minute wait & our party of 8 had to be split at 2 different tables; no problem. Our server was very cordial...in the beginning. I thought the music playing in the place was a bit out of sorts for a "Farmhouse" place but that didn't have any bearing on the food of course. The food rolled out & I can safely say, my Chicken & Dumplings were some of the best I've ever had. My sides were equally as good. The downfall came when it came time to order dessert. One member in our party requested Blackberry Cobbler, another Peach. The server looked & asked if they were sure they didn't just want to share because the portion was large. First off, do you not want your establishment to make more $? Also, it came across as though she was insinuating that they did not need to have their own. The one replied with "I don't like Blackberry so I want peach". Our desserts came out, then our bills. While we were one of the last groups left in the restaurant, we could hear our server griping to a coworker about customers that had been in, both were then sitting & counting their tips on full view & her attitude seemed to turn sour with every minute that passed. While I would rather have better service, I'd go back for the food in a heartbeat - best meal I...
