Stopped in here on a Sunday whim. It looked like a fun local place to get some ice cream. When we got to the counter, it became apparent that neither employee wanted to be there. When we were finally "greeted" it was "Someone else will help you." So the only other employee in the store. The customer ahead of us wanted to add something to her order but was also told she would have to wait for the other employee that had started her order. The other employee would not look or talk to anyone so that wasn't helpful. Then her order was finished so we were excitedly waiting for our turn next under the "order here" sign, don't wait there, it's a lie. As the "silent partner" was washing his hands or something in the back and "someone else will help you" was being paid hourly to get a scoop of ice cream out, another customer with 6 kids came in an approached the display case. Don't paint me as a monster, the mom and kids did nothing wrong and they were all well behaved and polite. The mom asked her kids what they thought they might want. "Silent partner" finally appears from the back and walks right up to "party of 7" and begins taking their order. After waiting under "Order Here" for 20 minutes and witnessing there speed of service as we waited, I couldn't tell you what the actual ice cream taste like because at that point it was just time to leave. We ended up going to Coldstone where the service was chipper and the had a fun chant...
Read moreThe decor was cute but we were not impressed with the ice cream. We were expecting homemade ice cream from an ice cream parlor but it’s not, it’s no different than what you buy in a store. We decided to give it a try anyways and my husband got the chocolate chip cookie sundae and I got the peach cobbler with ice cream. For his, they heated up a store bought chocolate chip cookie in a styrofoam bowl and the styrofoam and cookie melted together on the bottom. My peach cobbler was pretty tasteless, you could tell it was just canned peach filling and was just ‘blah’, they just reheat it in the microwave, it’s not really ‘fresh and hot’. We left very disappointed and found it to be a waste of $12. We would have had better and cheaper ice cream at...
Read moreStopped by for a late night ice cream before leaving town because my daughter "had to stop". The ice cream was good for sure.
The reason for the 3 stars instead of a better rating was the response from the gentleman at the counter when I asked if they had a military discount. It definitely would not have bothered me if they didn't have one and I typically don't ask except it is Veteran's Day weekend. The answer I got was a little crass though. The response was "if we gave a military discount or senior citizen discount we would have to give it to everyone because that's all that is up here". A simple "no, I'm sorry we dont" would have been sufficient.
Good to know that if the market was more diverse they might consider...
