For me this is what represents BBQ. THe smoke smell when we parked, The sausages were more reminiscent of franks but the hot link hit the spot. The ribs lacked the smoke ring but were very tasty. The pulled pork was moist. The brisket and chicken were chopped, not my favorite way to for either of those and I like my brisket cut like slab bacon and my chicken, unless advertised as "pulled", to be divided by their pieces and on the bone for BBQ. The sauces were great. Offered in a sweet and a hot/spicy version both were great. The meaty beans are absolutely rockin'. Not like Baked BBQ beans, but rather more like pintos with spices and trimmings of the meats. ABSOLUTELY ROCKIN'! drinks come in cans, which I think makes a BBQ joint, something about that for me. Way better than our first venture but made us appreciate finding this place and when we visit Branson again this will be on the short list of our dining stops! Amended to reflect 5 stars! I did not see the 3...
Read moreWe were in Branson for just a few days and Oscar's was only open for one of them. So I broke one of my food rules. If a food is in the name, you have to order it. I went with a sampler platter instead to make the most of my time. I could not order anything less than half a rack of ribs and knew I could not have stomach space for it, plus the sampler plate. It came with chopped brisket, pulled pork, chopped chicken, a hot link and polish sausage. A lot of food for two people even. The brisket and hotlink were my favorite. Polish sausage followed by the pork and chicken. It came with a side of meaty beans, which I liked. We also got a side of smoked Mac and cheese, which I was kinda disappointed in. All this was 24 dollars, a great deal. Sauce was also good. A small dining area, but the building itself has a classic hole in the wall appeal. Super friendly service. We got better bbq in OKC, but give Oscar's a try. Go with the ribs though, follow...
Read moreWe travel a lot and one of our favorite things to try in different areas is the bbq from high rated places. Sadly this place didn’t live up to the hype. We got it to go like most since Covid is on the rise. We ordered just meat, pulled pork and brisket. 1lbs of each, we also got 1 of each sauce as they lady said they make them all in house. Pulled Pork: had good smoke flavor, wayyyy to dry though. Way like a mouth full of crackers without the sauce. Now the sauces they offer are, mild, medium, and hot. They should be labeled sweet, mild, and medium. No heat at all in the hot. All super thick also. Brisket: Looks like they mixed the burnt end in with it which helped adding to the flavor factor. The smoke flavor you expect was non existent. This brisket tasted and had the looks of a moist pot roast. Not an actual smoked brisket. Would rate lower but the price was cheap and we didn’t try the ribs which what others said they...
