I'll begin by saying: it was a pleasant surprise to find a shoneys restaurant while visiting Branson! If you know shoneys from back in the day, you know they had a nice lunch, dinner, salad, soup, dessert and breakfast bar. I was so glad to find the same bar! The only item I missed, and maybe just didn't notice, was the sliced loaf of yummy bread. The bar was well and freshly stocked, clean. Hot food! I sampled everything I could, in small servings: Meatloaf, fried chicken, salad, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac salad, strawberry fluff, glazed strawberries. It was lunch time. I would have chosen from the breakfast and soup choices, having brunch, but needed the more healthy choice of lunch. What an absolute treat! The meatloaf and chicken were delicious! Our server, a very nice, pleasant lady with an adorable pixie haircut, named Shawna, kept the hot coffee coming. There was no empty cup that sat waiting to be warned up. She also quickly cleared our empty plates. Miss Shawna is an asset to this restaurant! I hope she's valued and treated well. Her cheerful personality was a nice addition to our dining experience. The restaurant is large, clean, with more than ample seating. We arrived just before many other visitors and never felt crowded. We requested to be seated near the food bar, as one of our party has some physical challenges, and was pleasantly seated very near the bar. Each employee we encountered was also pleasant. I hope to...
Read moreWe (my hubby an myself)walked in at 4pm was escorted to a table. She asked our drinks. Said only buffet we said yes that what we came for we just arrived in town after driving 8.5 hrs were hungry. Well there was only little bit salad bar an few desserts, an 1 sad dried piece I think fish, tiny bit Mac cheese, spoonful green beans,2 rolls,an I believe tons of jelly an bitter cups. We asked if more was to be brought.out another lady said no that was it for buffet. We looked at each other an figured well crumbs better than nothing. Then another lady walks over hands us bill 31.00 an asked if we could pay it now. We stunned looked at her an said there is no foods . Why you charge us for nothing to eat. She said go register so we did an this lady said she knock one off. We looked each other then her an said we didn't eat you have nothing out to fill a plate except desserts. We are hungry an not paying full or half price for nothing. My husband asked her why did you sit us if you had no foods to fill a plate an then inform us you close 4pm?? Should told us as we were escorted in an to a table. We said we pay for 2 sodas an said thank you . Hungry as we were this was wrong all around wrong . Our 1st time to Branson an this was our greeting at Shoneys. If she told us right off yes we would said oh ok we go elsewhere to dine. Not order our drinks then get buffet to learn not much there... Won't return...
Read moreMy family and I went here for lunch after church. When we were seated the waitress took our drink orders and told those of us who were eating at the buffet to help ourselves. She brought our drinks I had ordered a dr pepper which was nothing but colored carbonation and had asked for a replacement. In the time it took to get the replacement my two children were able to eat a full plate each from the buffet and my wife and mother in law had still not been able to turn in their orders. When the kids finished their food the two orders finally came out. Liver and onions burnt and flavorless. My wife ordered a sandwich and the cheese was processed slices and the sandwich was soggy due to excess sauce. The fries were over salted. Finally it was my turn to eat. My advice for eating shoney buffet is this anything but salad and soup pass on it. The eggs runny sausage cold bacon burnt biscuits dry chicken dripping in grease just remove the skin and it's like a faucet of grease is turned on mac n cheese is cold as well. Final warning if you spill a drink prepare to work as the staff asks you to hold their serving tray while they go get a mop and towels. The only reason I gave a 1 is that the waitress was very apologetic for the experience we received. Unfortunately nothing was done to remedy this. Will not reccomend unlikely to return unless major...
